5a Mia Jackson (Dark Horse)

No one is talking about this team but they have started 2-0 won their first game 53-0 and won last night 49-0 granted not over world beaters but Jackson is not the Jackson of last year

which makes our win over them even more impressive and while gibbons has started 0-2 and AHP 0-1 and in a tie game right now with Sj on the road possibly going 0-2 as well.

i wouldn’t laugh at the possibility at Jackson. Taking this district

Over hype ? Na Jackson wins are speaking for itself but aye u could have atleast said u were wrong I about us vs western if we would have lost I bet u would have been on the post lol but aye Dillard hasn’t proved anything yet and I already said there not winning anything this year this year is all about creating a identity

Wouldn’t be saying nothing.. it’s funny you shyt on Deerfield cause they stay shytting the bed (which they deserve) but they actually play top teams while they win some n lose some .. But you come trying to overhype teams (which I love Jackson) cause y’all beat them... Jackson is a 3 tier team like y’all n Weston... But don’t make it seem like they are state contenders...

How you know their not tho ? And western is ranked in a lot of 8a tolls but now their no one special cuz we beat em that same western team beat Deerfield at Deerfield last year in the playoffs and made it to the 3rd round. And let’s not hype their “big games” cuz they lose em more then they win em if that’s the case Dillard doesn’t shy away from big competition either.

Are you sure that’s the same western team from last year? How many players they return from that playoff team last year?

It’s the same western team same star qb same star rb they lost a few to graduation but their core is still there. Which is why they are ranked top 20 in south Florida poll and top 10 in broward.

Star qb , Star rb? Ok ...

When I say star I’m talkn about the star of their TEAM..not the star of the nation or state Your so busy trying to diminish them cuz we beat them but yet u picked us to lost to them just like u picked us to lose against Jackson.

just admit you was wrong and u slept on Dillard bro lol we still cool.

i never said western was some dematha or mater dai but they did beat Deerfield on the ROAD then beat a palm beach team who beat Miramar on the road at Their place with the same qb and rb and coach tandem they have now. @OldSchoolLion am I missing suen.

No I’m not diminishing nothing.. That was a solid win from y’all boyz. But don’t make it seem Western and Jackson are world beaters...

Nah never said that all I said is those were two solid wins by us which shows Dillard has improved a great ton from years past.

As I stated before Dillard will not win states this year or come close but if they go 8-2 this year they will possibly accumulate enough points as a district champion to get a favaorable up north matchup witch will avoid the matchup vs a dade team for atleast one week. Which will improve our chances to making it to the second round.

This is a “finding your identity” year for Dillard building a foundation and making strides then next year take the next step forward.

Panther, I can't judge since I didn't see the game, but I really like the fact that Dillard won a close one.  That shows metal toughness, regardless of the opponent.  I think you have good reason to be excited.  Like you said in the past, this season is about more than wins/losses for Dillard.  If the kids and the parents like the coaches and are having a good time, the wins will come.  Paws up!

Gibbons got Dillard this week, Jackson next. If they start the season 0-4, then they will be the most over hyped team ever. Just saying.

The question I ponder is, what prompted people to think so highly of Cardinal Gibbons to begin with?  And I don't mean that to sound as if Cardinal Gibbons is not worthy of high praise.  They may very well be worthy.

As I have pointed out elsewhere, Gibbons rose to prominence very quickly and is scant in the "quality wins" department over the past few seasons. It appears to me that some are basing their judgement on "rated" individual talent.  I cannot think of what other criteria they are using to justify.  And if these rating services are biased, which is likely, using individual talent to compare teams may be a questionable practice.

I have similar questions about Chaminade. Gibbons and Chaminade both have great teams compared to many others out there.  I think some set unrealistic expectations for them, forgetting they are sometimes playing schools with substantially larger student populations.  That is especially the case with Chaminade.

Cardinal Gibbons was expected to be good because they have been improving under their coach and most expected them to take the next step

I think Cardinal Gibbons is still a contender in 5a but perhaps they shouldn't have been ranked as high in state and national polls as they started out with

But can they still win 5a, absolutely

As was pointed out in another thread, its because they played AHP close last year as to why there was so much hype.

As we all know, some teams are just built to give another team problems.  I find it interesting that a team like Gibbons, who wasn't even part of a "best of Broward County" discussion not too long ago, plays a couple of close games against the same team (an excellent one)., and that catapults them to star status, yet we have other teams that have been consistently winning quality games for years, and don't garner the same level of attention.

For example, Columbus has been playing close games against the toughest of Miami-Dade for years, even winning some of those games.   Last year, Columbus beat a talented Miami High team during the regular season and lost a squeaker to them in the playoffs.

Columbus typically plays a very tough schedule, and their record often shows it.  They sometimes lose to teams whose records are not that impressive, making them appear less impressive.  For instance, they lost a close game to a 5-5 Northwestern team in 2015 (that played a brutal schedule) that likely would have smoked 95% of all teams in Florida.

Am not a Columbus homer.  Just think it is a good example.

    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
    • Blountstown at WS Neal AL Sept 27th. Also the Tate vs. Faith Academy game is no more. Tate will be playing Escambia instead now.
    • I like it if there is only 4 classes
    • I like the match. An entire COUNTY against a small little Catholic school. Toss up.
