WANTED: Story ideas and thoughts from the members

Joshua Wilson

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some fresh thoughts, things that could have stories done without breaking the budget. I am looking for ideas from you all that could lead to putting in some new mojo to what I do. So this is your forum to share what you think I should do, could do. Even ideas that might sound crazy, just list them. It will provide me with some food for thought.

  1. Where are the Mr. Football now for the past 30 years?
  2. Where are the Football Coach of the Years now?
  3. An explanation of how much it costs to run a program (and why districts can't/don't do more to help). I feel sometimes the public at large doesn't understand the costs associated with sports. Additionally, showing the financial toll of moving games from Friday to Saturday morning (your tweet from one of the Jax games could help show that, especially if you had one from last year).
  4. Some one off stories about coaches like Uncle Luke, Lakatriona Brunson, and their impact.
  5. Stories about any female players (Bolles had a kicker a couple of years ago, and there was a QB in South Florida last year).
  6. Maybe a coaches corner on a break down of a series of 3-4 plays that are designed to look the same and the coach techniques from them. Sean Sal
  7. A breakdown of a week of a head  or assistant coaches' schedule and how that continues into the off-season.
  8. What safety precautions are required during games (ambulances, trainers, doctors) and what is the standard safety precautions?
  9. Who has the coolest logo?
  10. Who has the pettiest beef of all time? (Catholic vs Convicts of ND vs Miami) or at least the most fun T-shirts mocking an opponent.

1. What about schools and coaching changes how they have positively and negatively impacted the programs.

2. Players/Famous people  you probably had no idea where from or played at FL schools and their back story IE Khalil Mack- Ft Pierce Westwood, Trey Burton- Venice, or “Larry the Cable Guy” Berean Christian also a big time supporter of the school.

Just some thoughts I had...

Thanks to everyone so far on the suggestions.

One thing I can say is this... if FHSAA media policy is changed to allow internet only websites (like this one) to institute a paywall, it will happen here. Not everything would be behind that, but some of these potentials could be in that. I am just issuing a warning now.

The reason I will institute a paywall is simple. It pays me for my time to produce the content, but it will also provide an incentive. Yes, I tried years ago with this, but I discovered my flaws when I attempted. In that time the FHSAA did crack down on this, but some new things are advancing here and could change that mindset soon.

If a paywall is instituted it will be for the content-only (forums will remain FREE) that is more feature like and exclusive to the site (not standard stories that others might have). My thoughts will be a 6-month and a yearly flat rate. No month-to-month bull crap. I see what The Athletic is doing and they are doing a fine job. However, I will still have to keep ads because they do help a little bit (but it is not as much as any of you all think... please believe when I say that... Google is not as clean as they say they are when it comes to giving publishers a fair shake of the revenue through their AdSense program). Speaking of such....if any of you all are using ad blockers... please whitelist the site. By blocking the ads you see, you are hurting my revenue and quite frankly my income. The server alone costs $100+ a month to keep things going here. I ask for that respect.

Thanks!

Josh

    • I was actually itching to treat some wager some money on some sports matches that are happening above-board now. I wanted to let you guys identify that I did spot what I ruminate on to be the kindest site in the USA. If you fall short of to get in on the spirit, check it out-moded: https://pokeronline.guru/online-gambling/
    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
