Smh they need to separate these 2 teams before we end up with a WWE Royal Rumble or something at one of these games

In this very charged society in which we live, they need to place them in separate districts (preferably regions). I fear something very bad could happen if this continues.

Venice has been around a lot longer then Braden River so truthfully idk who would be considered Braden River official rival but in terms of tension these 2 are white hot rivals

Here's what you need to know - Braden River first team was in 2007; 2006 was jv only.  The location of the school is key to everything.  It is located just over the county line in Manatee county.  Everything there is new.  It is were all the new homes are being built; the new mall is there, it is where everyone goes when they are looking for something fun to do.  Lakewood Ranch, which is just a minute or two up the road was like that until Braden River came along.  Now they are yesterday's news.  All the kids that go to the other schools in Manatee county especially Lakewood Ranch and Southeast now want to go to Braden River.  Even Booker who is just over on the other side the county line kids want to go there.  And go talk to the residents, the parents want their kids there.  So Braden River became a powerhouse overnight it seems like.  So there is a lot of hate from the established programs aimed at them.  Venice on the other hand is an established program that has been around for decades.  They are further south in Sarasota county so they don't have to worry about their kids jumping ship as much.  For the last several years that district has come down to either Venice or Braden River.  Both have made deep runs in the playoffs in recent years.

Very much a big game, big crowd, etc.  Haven't experienced firsthand but hear about it from friends over there.  Both fan bases are strong and equally rowdy.

If Braden River didn’t exist, Southeast would be a dominant force in 7A or 8A. You can pretty much correlate to opening of BR to the fall of Southeast football.

Not only that, but also it hurt Lakewood Ranch because just as they started to get good, Braden River opened up.

The head coach from Palmetto was an assistant at Southeast before going there.  If you will remember, 2011 Palmetto made a deep run in the playoffs before losing to Miami Norland.   Palmetto had a few transfers that were former Southeast players.  Something the rest of us found quite interesting to say the least.

Yep. Dave Marino and his brother were both at Southeast when I was there (90-93). Boundary went all the way out through Myakka City.

or discipline the coaches.  I can't believe theses admins put up with this stuff.

Ok but that solves only half the problem

The tension spread from the coaches to the players,  even if you discipline the coaches what will be done to lower the tension among the players?

this is high school football.  If the coaches can't handle it you fire them.  The coaches and parents are the ones acting like little babies.   Was there a fight during the game?  Was there a brawl?  I think the players will be fine.

When tensions are high all it takes is a spark

Just because a fight didn't happen yet doesn't mean it can't happen

Can you really tell me Badbird that you felt before the game that there was no possibility at all of a brawl occurring with how high tensions were going in?

I ain't disagreeing with that

Yes the adults are the main cause of the tension but does that mean we should let them stay in same district when tensions are so high or wouldn't it be smart to move them to separate districts so they won't play as often and hopefully cool off the tension?

The refs have to get control of the game and the administration needs to get control of their coaches. Plain and simple.

Ive seen refs allow kids to punch other kids in the face and throw no flags. Coach gets flagged yelling at the refs to do something. Then a brawl breaks out three plays later. Whose fault is that? The refs. Not the kids nor the coaches.

Administration of both schools need to get together on a Saturday afternoon and bring both coaches in and tell them that this stuff needs to be settled right then and there or they are both gone.

no get rid of the problem.  We can't be moving people because adults can't do their job.

    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy

    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
