So Gibbs wins and upset over district opponent Lakewood and is 2-6 now . Their other win was Tarpon Springs, also a district game. If they beat Dunedin, currently 0-6, Gibbs is district champs and in the playoffs with quite possibly with a 3-7 record or 4-6 at best; they got Lake Gibson this week.  And we thought losing teams in the playoffs would be done away with the new system?

You bring up some VERY valid points; however, keep in mind that Lakewood had players suspended due to a brawl a few weeks ago. Gibbs has gotten better since getting annihilated by Tampa Catholic in week 1.  Gibbs won't come close to beating Lake Gibson though.

Gibbs was annihilated by Lakeland as well.

They are in most cases but teams fought to keep districts which means it's still possible but it happened much more often in that old crap system we had

Its rare to see a district champ with a losing record for sure.  Lakewood might finish with a better record,  more points, and not be in the playoffs.

Now I hear Gibbs has to forfeit a win to Tarpon Springs. This really screws things up.

You're correct.. Gibbs used an illegal player for some games this year, specifically the Tarpon Springs games. The forfeit gives Tarpon a 5th win this year. Gibbs win vs Lakewood still counts though as the illegal player didn't play in that game.
