Sure but that doesn't mean just because you play a bigger school you should get more points.  Part of the problem with this system is the bonus points for playoff teams from 2 to 3 years ago.  Should you get 3 points next year because you schedule 0-9 Gadsden?

Well badbird if you were to adjust how they assign bonus points how could it be done?

Start with Trinity Christian or Chaminade Madonna or raines

There are plenty of large schools with equal or better records i would not favor against them

Yes size of school does matter in most cases but it's far from being a hard rule

A playoff system should be built around most cases.

However i am against the idea of a 7a school getting bonus points for just playing a 8a school

Now if it's a 8a school who finishes with a winning record then maybe add a point or 2 but anyone can go schedule some 0-10 8a school like one of those pretty bad 8a schools in Miami that finish 0-10 every year

I wouldn't give bonus points. Point system is dumb. It doesn't work.  It will never be right.  Games have to be decided on the field.  That is the only way to get it right.

Yes you should get more points for playing larger schools that win. If your involved with football this is common sense.

So we should get more points for playing sandalwood than Trinity Christian?

Damn i hope that never passes because we would probably watch our schedule strength get significantly worse

At least every game matters

Cut Classes.  Go to 7 classes.  There are about 500 teams currently not independent.

1A  36 Teams (I don't care what 1A does)

2A-7A Divide them evenly.  That leaves about 76 teams in each class.  About 19 in each Region.  Go to 3 districts per region not 4 so about 6.3 teams in each district.  Set Districts up so it is 5-7 in a district. Let champ and runner up get in.  Have shootouts to determine champ and runner up if needed.  That gives you two wild cards to be determined by a point system.  Keep adjusting the point system until you get it right.  Also do some more research before you put it out there.  Set playoffs up using point system seeding.  District champ hosts round 1 but they don't have to be a 1-3 seed.

Now every game counts and for the most part it is decided on the field.

I can live with that

yeah and it really doesn't even matter if you win or lose it.  it matter how the other teams do in the other games they play and who they schedule

Have we really come to a point where we need a cookie for everything?  If I had a kid who needed a cookie, ie points in a playoff system, to get hyped up for a game,  I would politely tell him to find another activity.  Any athlete who needs external motivation lacks passion passion and drive from within.  Real athletes, just like real artists, real teachers, etc, are intrinsically motivated.

Gadsden will be without their head coach this evening - Coach Striplin had a heart attack this morning and is recovering from an emergency triple bypass.

Speedy Recovery.... but this definitely the makings of a Disney Movie. Proud team struggles after various circumstances happen to them, some bureaucratic snafu allows them to enter into the playoffs, where all people shout them down for even being in the playoffs. Days before the game, the coach goes into the emergency room, players who feel the coach has been a father figure vow to win one for the Gipper as he has constantly stood up for them against the constant community and outsider criticism. The quietest kid on the team feels the need to speak up during a locker room session, he is always the first to practice and the last to leave, due to never having a ride to practice because mom and dad left with grandma and grandma is too old to drive. But he plays because it gives him a chance to feel in control and be part of something.

Assistant Coach calls for a fake FG to win the game, the kid catches the ball as holder throws up a wing and a prayer. Movie fades to black as we are told Head Coach make recovery, team loses to state power house the next week, but for one week, the kids were champions.... Little Giants meets Unnecessary Roughness meets Gridiron Gang.

Didn't a movie with a similar plot already get made?
