I thinks its great you take the time to compile this data, but was wondering why 1993 and not 1992? The data for at least one team is impacted for both appearance and state title won by going back one year? Perhaps the best way to do this, is something like Laz always does......that is to do it by decades or compile data based on multiple decades?

What prompted me to do this exercise was another post about Deerfield Beach.  I was curious how Deerfield compared to other schools in terms of state semi appearances.  I wanted to answer two questions.

What teams have been in a lot of state of semifinals?

Are there other teams like Deerfield that have a poor percentage of winning state titles relative to state semi appearances?

1993 was the first year Deerfield appeared in a state semi and 1993=25 years, so it's a "nice" number....thus I chose 1993.

If we went back to the beginning of the FHSAA, the teams with 8 or more semi appearances would look very similar-see below.  Carol City and Southridge would join the list.

I think it is fair to say that any team listed below is part of an elite group, and a certain amount of expectations follow them each year, regardless of how many state titles each has won.  Although Deerfield, Osceola and Mainland have not had much luck winning state titles compared to others on the list, their programs are more successful than over 95% of the large school programs out there today.

St Thomas Aquinas 22

Lakeland 15

Armwood 13

Manatee 13

Carol City 11

Northwestern 10

Plant 10

Osceola 9

Southridge 9

Lincoln 8

Naples 8

Mainland 8

Deerfield Beach 8
