7A Region 4 - Will the Raiders Reign Supreme?

4 of Region 4's playoff teams from last year return.  9 teams in the new region were in the playoffs last year(double asterisk below).  Only 3 of those teams got past the first round, though, and all three are in District 14.  STA's District 14 foes are a combined 4-41 against the Raiders since 1966 (Plantation won all 4).  Of all Broward County public schools, only one has more wins against the Raiders than Miramar(Miramar has beaten the Raiders 8 times since 1966), and that is Deerfield Beach.  Look for the Patriots to try to play the spoiler role, even though they fell far short this past season.  Atlantic was a bust last year, losing to Western in the first round of the playoffs, but could be the Raiders' biggest challenger this year, taking on Dwyer's role of the past.

The Raiders are arguably the most talent-laden team in the state, but the new reclassification made their path a bit tougher than in the past.  Team records from last season are listed below.

District 13

**Atlantic 10-1

Boca Raton 5-5

Olympic Heights 5-5

Ely  1-9

District 14

**St Thomas Aquinas 13-2

**Fort Lauderdale 9-3

**Plantation 10-2

S Plantation 0-10

District 15

**Miramar 6-5

**McArthur 9-2

Everglades 4-6

Cooper City 3-7

District 16

**Hialeah 9-2

**Doral Academy 9-3

Homestead 6-4

Mater Academy 6-4

**N Miami 6-5

Miami Beach 3-8

What place do you see ely finishing in that district their playing nothing but west palm schools now lol

2nd or 3rd...Boca is usually well coached, but light on talent. Heights should be a win...Ely should match Atlantic, talent wise, so that'll come down to in-game adjustments

U think ely will match Atlantic Who Many has viewd as one of 7a faves to win it all over the past two or 3 years ? Ely who has finished 1-9 2-8 respectively over the past two years? I’m not even sure ely has a HC yet if so I didn’t hear about it

Atlantic has a lot of good players, they are not this elite team that people think they are. #1 (H. Bryant) is a beast, everyone else is ok. They don’t beat themselves offensively (turnovers) and they don’t give up many big plays on defense.

You have to make them a passing team (keep them out of short yardage) and when you have the ball, don’t get impatient and take the 8/9 play drive.

Teams that beat them (playoffs) all beat them the same way...PK should’ve beat them last year with 6 turnovers

Everything u describe to beat them is not ely lol you have to be well coached and ely is not if you have a well coached avg team in south Florida you can beat 90% of the competition down hear which says a lot.

    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
    • Blountstown at WS Neal AL Sept 27th. Also the Tate vs. Faith Academy game is no more. Tate will be playing Escambia instead now.
    • I like it if there is only 4 classes
