Class 1A Region 4 - Can Hawthorne Do It Again?

This region features 6 playoff teams from last season(those with a double asterisk).  5 of those playoff teams were in this region last season.  Frostproof moves up to Class 3A and Chiefland joins the region, moving over from Region 3.  Hawthorne garnered a lot of attention last year when it easily won the region over Pahokee.  Hawthorne also soundly defeated Chiefland and Crescent City last year.  Until their loss to Madison County in the 1A semi, nobody had gotten within 2TD's of Hawthorne.  Crescent City and Wildwood played a very tight game last season.

With a long trip to/from Pahokee on the line, seedings in this region will once again be very important.  Had this region been in place last season, Chiefland, not Pahokee, would have been the #2 seed behind Hawthorne.

**Hawthorne 12-1

**Chiefland 10-2

**Crescent City 9-3

**Pahokee 6-6

**Wildwood 6-6-1

**Fort Meade 4-7

Williston 3-7

Trenton 2-8

Newberry 1-9

Bronson 0-10

John Palmer knows how to win state titles.   Hawthorne surprised a number of folks last season and a 2018 10-2 Chiefland team with Palmer at HC...well, this region could be a challenge for Pahokee, especially if they have to travel for any of their region playoff games.

From 2011 through the 2015 season Trenton under HC Andrew Thomas pounded Hawthorne every year. No games were even close. Trenton was in the championship game 3 times and won twice. Since Thomas left Trenton has been floundering. Andrew Thomas is now the HC of Trinity Catholic since last season and should be instrumental in the resurgence of the Celtics.

Can Hawthorne do it again? No.
Losing QB
Losing Top 2 Rushers
Losing all but 1 receiver
Losing nearly 19 seniors on a Roster of 35

As for Chiefland...
Another run heavy team that loses their best rusher
Another team losing 15 seniors on a Roster of 44

As for Pahokee
They might get Booker T Washingtoned due to their difficult schedule.

The reality is that it doesn't matter much, because they will eventually have to play Madison County. Madison isn't losing to any of these teams.

1st off

Booker T Washingtoned? That's a term now?

2nd

It depending on 2 things

Pahokee's progression though  the season and Hawthorne reloading.

If Pahokee does what I think they will, Hawthorne and even Madison county better be careful!  Pahokee to me is a tropical storm that can a  major hurricane if things go well for them.

Actually, Hawthorne should NOT have beat Pahokee last year. You can also add 8A Atlantic, Vero, and Cocoa in there too. Pahokee was clearly the better team in all of those games.

You guys talk as if Pahokee actually had real coaches and strategic adult leadership... They didn't!    I was told those coaches didn't even watch game film or scouted upcoming opponents. That team had no offensive or defensive identity. They were just extremely athletic.

It should be interesting to see how the kids respond to experienced coaches that implement schemes and strategy. And from the looks of that spring game, I think Pahokee is gonna do really well. They looked pretty good against playoff bound 8A Deerfield Beach!
