Beating Gainesville does basically nothing to prove columbia is a power

 

If it wasn't a rivalry it would hold as much weight as most games on the regular season schedule

 

Columbia problem is winning games in postseason, they have proven they fully capable of winning plenty of regular season games, especially against local teams

In 2012, Gainesville finished #57 nationally in Maxpreps...and #6 in FL.  The question is not whether Gainesville is a perennial national power.  The question is whether a victory over the 2012 Gainesville team is worthy of mention in a list of quality wins for Central, and I say it absolutely is.  That Gainesville team beat very good Madison County and Navarre teams. 

Research the 2012 performance of the teams on your list and you will find that most of them were not national powers in 2012.  And Gainesville would have had a reasonable chance of beating the majority of those teams that year.  Central smoked Northwestern and Carol City in 2012 and both of those teams finished with 3 or more losses.  Chaminade, Cardinal Gibbons, and AHP are all relatively new on the national scene.  Prattville was 5-4 in 2012 and Elder was 8-4.  Mainland was 9-4 in 2012 and had 3 losses of 20 points or more.  Columbus was 9-5 and lost to Central.   etc, etc.  Other than Central, on that list, St Thomas, Booker T, Don Bosco, Bishop Gorman and Hoover would have been clear favorites over Gainesville that year.  ..the rest on the list...no.

I only took a smaller sample size of the list posted by @MC Rockets

When MC Rockets made his list, I'd be willing to bet that he had some specific years in mind for each team listed.  For instance, Hallandale is not a perennial power, but like Gainesville, has had some strong years.  One must do their homework before discounting a victory as significant.  As you know, there are many teams who only occasionally produce a team that is a powerhouse.  If Central had beaten a 5-5 Gainesville team during the regular season, I doubt he would have included them on his list as a notable victory.

To both those teams credit even for quick exits they both are among some of highest percentage in state of teams making playoffs

 

There are schools out there been around over 50 years and haven't won a single playoff game

 

Speaking of which, @OldSchoolLion I have a suggestion for one of your future research projects, I'm curious what is some of the oldest schools in state that have either never won a playoff game or have no appearances in playoffs

Miami Central beat some of those teams multiple years

didn't see this before I posted.  Columbiafan is just a hater because it's Gainesville.  They were really good that year.  So good that Columbia lost to them in the regular season.  We all know this is tough to do.  Not many beat Columbia in the regular season.  The playoffs, that's a different story.
