The 1996-1997 Carol City Chiefs won back-to-back 6A state titles, the biggest classification at the time.  Over those two years, the Chiefs outscored their 10 playoff opponents 295-117.  In 1997, Walt Frazier's undefeated Chiefs faced off in the 6A final with Columbia.  The Chiefs, led by senior quarterback Ethenic Sands, entered that game ranked No. 4 nationally by USA Today and No. 1 in the state.  Sands went on to play for the U.
