2000 Class 6A Title Game - Palm Bay vs Dillard

13-1 Dillard vs 11-2 Palm Bay.  This was Dillard's last appearance in a state final.  Palm Bay made it back in 2002.  Palm Bay took out an undefeated Lincoln team in the state semis.

Palm Bay is one of only 3 teams since 2000 to score 10 points or less and win a state title game.  Bolles(02) and Cocoa(08) are the others.

Mike Degory, Palm Bay's center, went on to become a great lineman for the Gators.

This game was a tough loss for Dillard. Unfortunately Palm Bay took greater advantage of the few chances each team had on offense. Game could have gone either way ...

Check out the weights of the Dillard o-line at 14:34...when lineman were in shape.  Sorry, but the human race has not evolved that quickly.  Many of today's high school linemen are carrying around an additional 50 pounds of fat and water.  Their health is paying  the price for this.

100% correct. For even the few that make it to the pros and get substantial money, there is a serious question as to whether it is worth it. What value should one place on 20 years of extra life in relatively good health?

Frostproof beat Trinity Christian 6-0 on a rain soaked day at UF maybe around 2002?? I want to say  Frostproof was 6-4 heading into the playoffs that year and a runner up.
