The Most Consistent Programs of the Past 15 Seasons

Relatively few programs have had winning seasons(finished with more wins than losses) EACH of the past 15 seasons.  These are the teams that arguably reload better than any other programs of the modern era.  Who are the teams?  I did consider forfeits in this exercise.  If not for forfeits, Armwood and Miami Central would make the list.

Lakeland     179-19 (90%)

St Thomas     195-24 (89%)

Bolles     173-28 (86%)

Dwyer     164-31 (84%)

Naples     154-30 (84%)

Cocoa     161-35 (82%)

American Heritage Plantation     149-36 (81%)

Columbus     148-37 (80%)

Apopka      154-43 (78%)

Bishop Moore     139-41 (77%)

Wakulla     130-44 (75%)

Niceville     131-45 (74%)

North FL Christian     132-48 (73%)

If it wasn't for Craig Howard in 2008 Columbia would be on the list as 2008 was Columbia first losing season since 1986

The last one on the list is American Heritage Plantation.  What do all 13 of the schools on the list have in common?

Not sure if Naples did under the current timeline but the others have all made at least one state appearance in the stretch and most won at least one title

Looks like Plant falls one year short of membership in this elite club.   Perhaps if this question is posed again next year, Plant can be initiated.

2004 was Robert Weiner's first year at the helm.  The team went 3-7, with two district losses.   Since then, the worst record Plant has had is 9-3 (in 2005, Weiner's second year as head coach, and again in 2015).  Over the last 14 years, Plant has 4 state championships and has been runner-up twice.  For purposes of this particular thread,  over that same 14 year span, Plant has posted an impressive 58-0 district record (their last district loss was to Armwood in the 2004 season).

They're going to be tested in district play this year, as Plant doesn't appear to have the depth they've had in past years.  They've also moved back up to 8A and into a new district that includes a vastly-improved Steinbrenner team who won their last 4 games of the 2018 season, scoring at least 34 points in each game.

Plant has had consistency at the head coaching spot, but has also had a handful of assistant coaches that have been with the team during most of Weiner's tenure.  Yeah, that makes a difference.

While this is is not the thread for my question, I wonder how much consistency with the assistant coaches matters versus the consistency with the head coach. For example, if we went and looked at one of the teams on the list that has had 2-3 coaches, would we notice that the assistant coaches are the same from year to year even as the head coach changes. If we looked at a struggling school, would we fine that not only do the head coaches consistently change, but the assistants as well.

Lots of research shows that struggling schools have constant teacher turnover. I wonder if the same would be true for struggling football programs.

I'd bet you dollars to donuts that this is true.

    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
    • Blountstown at WS Neal AL Sept 27th. Also the Tate vs. Faith Academy game is no more. Tate will be playing Escambia instead now.
    • I like it if there is only 4 classes
    • I like the match. An entire COUNTY against a small little Catholic school. Toss up.
