The season Cocoa lost to Colerain they also lost to Dallas Skyline and West Monroe.

They also lost to Hoover this season but the game was only competitive for a little over a quarter. Score was brought closer as the game was ending.

2011 Cocoa had a brutal schedule.  The Tigers have been one of the most brazen in the state when it comes to stretching the limits of scheduling.

Stop it Old School.  Columbiafan thinks Florida football is the best.  I'm sure facts won't change his mind.  We have the best talent but we don't have the best teams.  Coaching, community support, resources all play a key part.  Florida is way behind in those areas.

So let me get this straight

FL has best overall talent on field at one time but not the best team

Last i checked how many fans show up don't determine how good a team is between the yardlines

Only one of the 3 factors you listed has any impact with on field product and that is coaching, it's not that FL don't produce good coaches, they just can't keep them here because the schools can't afford to pay them and I'm not getting into why but let's just say look at state legislation and use your imagination

I've stated many times that states like GA and TX have far better support than FL so quit acting like I've ignored facts  @badbird

What I've argued and stand by is that in terms of talent on the field nobody is as good as FL, FL is the deepest state in terms of talent of any state in the country

And if you want I'll gladly post sources to back those statements up

You are crazy if you don’t think community support and resources don’t factor in.  So if a town is all crazy about football and every parent gets their kid to play it doesn’t help the school when they enter high school?  It increases the number of players and starting earlier will give them an advantage.

resources for equipment and training and diet make players reach their potential quicker.  Florida has a lot of raw talent not developed talent

In terms of talent on the field yes

Best teams isn't the same as best programs

Best teams would just be what performance you get on the field, best program also takes into account the community support, facilities, ect.

So the only difference between Georgia and Florida is coaching but we have far superior talent yet they beat us more than we beat them.  More than just coaching a lot more than just coaching.

Well I could also throw in how rare it is to see a GA team play in FL because we know how those GA officials call games involving FL schools

Plenty of home cooking in those matchups, especially South GA vs FL teams

Guarantee you MNW will be called for 200 yards of penalties while lowndes will be called for about 50 yards

9 of the 17 Georgia "wins" above were by more than 14 points.  That's arguably more than just home cookin' at play.

Below are 14 games played in Florida versus out-of-state schools in the past decade(this is not an exhaustive list).  Florida was 12-2 and won by a combined score of 341-191.  A number of the OOS teams were nationally ranked.  Any chance schools coming to Florida think there is some home cookin when they visit us'?   Not that we should not have won some of these games, but 12-2 is awfully good going up against teams like these.

St Thomas Aquinas 9 vs St John Bosco (CA) 3

St Thomas Aquinas 30 vs De La Salle(CA) 6

St Thomas Aquinas 42 vs Byrnes (SC) 34

St Thomas Aquinas 42 vs Camden County (GA) 28

American Heritage(PL) 21 vs Don Bosco (NJ) 0

American Heritage (PL) 31 vs Liberty (NV) 0

Dematha (MD) 23 vs American Heritage(PL) 22

Booker T 34 vs Bingham (UT) 28

Glades Central 6 vs Skyline (TX) 0

West Point (MS) 14 vs Mainland 0

Belle Glades Day 24 vs Twiggs County (GA) 12

Cocoa 14 vs Olive Branch (MS) 7

Pahokee 34 vs Wayne Hills (NJ) 23

Kissimee 32 vs Carson (CA) 13

I saw highlights on that game recently, I thought it was a ESPN game so I may look into watching the full game sometime

Some could make that argument and some those games are close enough that i would want to look into finding a full replay to see if their claims were valid

There are other results up there that similarly to what you stated with GA would be too lopsided to be able to swing the result with home cooking

Of the 51 OOS wins above, FL schools scored 21 or more points only 18 times(35%).  And 2 of those 18 games were OT games, allowing 21 points to be met/exceeded.  With all of our speed and high-powered talent, it really surprises me that we could not routinely score more points, regardless of home field advantage.

Absolutely . . . because the only reason why any Florida team should ever play an out-of-state game is so that folks on a message board can claim that the teams in their state are better than the teams in another state.   Forget that coaches might want to give their teams a challenge, might want to create a bonding experience and might actually want to give their kids a chance to get on an airplane and leave the town they grew up in for the first time.

(And before you jump on the argument that they could find other teams in Florida to challenge them, remember that there are some counties that literally won't let their teams cross county lines unless it's a district game, a playoff game or an out-of-state game . . . and feel free to argue the logic of that line of thinking).

I've always thought Hillsborough having that rule is a stupid rule to have

    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
    • Ocala Vanguard https://x.com/VanguardFB/status/1772951193179840761?s=20
    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
