Counts as much as UCF's national championship.

The UCF National Championship claim upset a lot of the privileged elite in college football, but it also put them on notice and exposed the Power 5 Cartel for what their national championship is; an invitational limited only to Power 5 teams. Here we are two years later and UCF bitch-slapped another Power 5 team this past weekend.

I agree

The CFP system is a joke, they may as well rename it the power 5 Championship and create a group of 5 Championship bracket (so like a open division D1 and D2 form of bracket)

I'll show some people what i mean by this tomorrow ;)

Nah

From reading my Twitter the school who took most offense to UCF was that school in college in Gainesville

Maybe complaining runs in Alachua DNA just like those tropical depressions at the high school level :D:D:D

Maybe.  Gator fans are delusional but so are most fans including the ones that claim fake titles

It didn’t upset Bama or Clemson

If you've ever watched the Paul Feinbaum Show on SEC Network, in reality the Bama Fan Club Show, you would have seen a very upset host and most of his followers condemned UCF, and they continue to condemn UCF today. Kirk Herbstreet on ESPN mocked UCF at the time, but doesn't anymore. On College Football Final (ESPN), Joey Galloway stated just yesterday that UCF deserves to be in the conversation for the CFP.

Many schools, including a couple of elite SEC programs, have claimed "fake" titles over the years, Bama being one of them. I'm a long time Gator fan, but I'm not delusional enough to believe the Gators could beat the UCF team of the past three years.

Yeah but most those schools claiming fake titles usually do it at end of the season

Not the beginning LMAO

They still don't have a National Championship game; it's a Power 5 Invitational. This is almost as ridiculous as when professional baseball wouldn't allow black players to play in the "major leagues". They still claimed the title of "World Champions". You can't be a national champion if you exclude half the teams that play your sport.

Almost as ridiculous as UCF fans thinking they won a National title.  If they blow everyone out they will get a chance this year.

You think so?

I personally think the fact they aren't in a power 5 conference (or have a bunch of Championships from a million years ago like Notre Dame) they will not be given a chance no matter how much they win, they could beat Clemson and bama by 35 and would still get left out by the NCAA, oh I mean playoff committee LMAO

In 2017 they barely beat South Florida and Memphis the last two games of the year.  It was also there first time going undefeated.  They didn’t deserve a shot.  Last year if the QB doesn’t get hurt they actually would have had a chance to make it.  Not saying they would have but the chances would have been far greater.  I feel if they run the tables this year convincingly they get in.  Problem is they have no really good win on the schedule.  They need some help.

I have to agree with ColumbiaFan. UCF doesn't belong to the Club. Will be on the outside looking in and, well... you get the point. Only way in is to join that exclusive club when another team gets the boot and there is an opening, and I don see that happening unless Taggert stays at FSU...

Well I feel like last year they deserved it more than Notre Dame but the NCAA won't allow a group of 5 team to get in because they want all 4 teams in playoffs to be big brands to ensure they maximize profit in the 3 games during the playoffs

They don't want to risk a group of 5 team making the finals because it would mean lower viewership (and money) which is another reason they are hesitant to add more teams to playoffs

The more teams involved the less control the NCAA has over who makes finals which can guarantee them the largest profit

Maybe but Stanford does have a prestige to it so perhaps that may help them (even though this Stanford team isn't that good)

They were the only undefeated team in the nation that year and they beat the only team (Auburn) to beat both participants in the Power 5 Invitational. As far as UCF fans are concerned, the Power 5 Invitational was the Consolation Game that year. The Power 5 Cartel will find a reason not to include UCF in the CFP this year; that's a sure bet.

they did not beat Auburn before it was selected.  No reason to select UCF that year. If they had beaten Auburn in a regular season game they probably would have been selected.  Play a harder schedule.  Take your 2 for 1's.  Or complain about it until you get a trophy.  That's the new generation.

Again they could beat bama and Clemson during season and the NCAA (playoff committee formed to pay for Mark Emmett to buy a 5th yacht) will not let UCF in no matter who they beat

It's a money thing

"they did not beat Auburn before it was selected."  That statement apparently shows that the selection committee for the Power 5 Invitational didn't do their homework. It was easier to disqualify a Group of 5 team than to have the courage to put them in the Invitational.

"If they had beaten Auburn in a regular season game they probably would have been selected."  If your statement was true, why wasn't UCF given an invitation the next year after completing another undefeated season? No need for your to respond, the answer is obvious.

"Take your 2 for 1's".  UCF doesn't play 2 for 1's; it implies inferiority. Maybe you should suggest teams like FSU and Tennessee play 1 for 2's with Group of 5 teams. Some of the Power 5 could also try that with FCS schools that have taken them to the woodshed this season.

Have you noticed the trend this year where each week the so-called Power 5 teams lose to lowly Group of 5 teams?

Save the reason's why UCF isn't deserving for the excuse thread...

NCAA recognizes UCF's national championship in addition to Alabama's

UCF, after all the pomp and circumstance, is a national champion.

According to the 2018 record book released last week, the Knights are listed - with Alabama as a team that finished the season No. 1.

UCF, which finished 13-0 last season with a win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl, finished atop the Colley-Matrix, one of the computer rankings recognized by the NCAA.

The NCAA, per The Orlando Sentinel, recognizes the teams that finish atop major polls, including the Colley-Matrix.

The Knights and their undefeated season have been a storyline all offseason since the Peach Bowl win over Auburn.

Because they didn’t deserve it.  They lost to LSU in a bowl game when half LSU’s team had quit and entered the draft.

Oh wait you told me to not respond.

    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
    • Blountstown at WS Neal AL Sept 27th. Also the Tate vs. Faith Academy game is no more. Tate will be playing Escambia instead now.
    • I like it if there is only 4 classes
    • I like the match. An entire COUNTY against a small little Catholic school. Toss up.
