Some quick thoughts:
1A:
Nobody will really care, but the expansion to 6 teams for 1A is way too much. A 2-5 Fort White is on the verge of making the playoffs. No reason fr that.
Madison County, even with 2 losses, still is 2nd in the Classification for RPI and #1 in Region.
Pahokee's OWP keeps them having a shot at the playoffs. They still need some wins.

3A
Trinity Christian (Jax) sits at the #6 seed. Imagine being the #3 seed and seeing that waiting for you. At the same, TC (Jax) is only .004 away from Wolfson (Jax) overtaking them. This will be a good test of scheduling vs winning games.
King's Academy in danger of not making playoffs. I suggested at the beginning of the year that it would be hard to replace all the seniors they lost.

4A
Gadsden County might make the playoffs again (I did call them the team that would be most improved after going winless last year)
4A Region 1 is really bad.
Miami Carol City still holding onto a spot.

LMAO this is why I argue 1a and 2a need to merge the regions Into 2 instead of 4

North FL educational is AWFUL

How can they possibly be in a situation to make the playoffs

Haha, you know something is foul when TCA has Wolfson nipping at their heels for a playoff spot........WOLFSON!!!!  They haven't won a playoff game in 40 years and have barely sniffed them since.

Don't forget there are many people who think this is a more system because every game counts (instead of just district games).

As it should be

If game don't count why the hell play the damn game, so some person can say "well it don't count for playoffs so we still better than you"

That's what makes the NFL playoffs the best setup, no game is wasted

If I am a 4A school, why should it matter how I do against an 8A school to determine if I am in the 4A playoffs. Shouldn't the teams in the 4A playoff be the teams that beat other 4A teams.

Imagine if the Gators won every SEC conference game, but then don't get to go to the SEC Championship because they lost to Florida State. That is what you are suggesting. It is why, the district system is easier. Now, do 4A teams have to be willing to step and face Trinity Christian, sure. I would solve that by promotion and relegation. Promote good teams until they are no longer dominate. If they get to 8A and are still dominate, so be it.

As for the number of teams in the region, just go back to the top 4 instead of top 6. Yes, I would prefer larger classes, but 1A-4A regions have 50% less teams in a region, but only 25% teams in the playoffs.

If they hadn't gotten rid of districts then the only impact that those games against other classes would have is seeding (which is perfectly fine because if they in playoffs what are they complaining about)

Pick your poison...a bunch of average teams making the playoffs or an 0-10 team making it.  And the even more idiotic thing about the 0-10 team making it was the fact that no one had enough functional brain cells to slip in a "better overall record" tiebreaker prior to resorting to flipping a coin.

Is 1-9 really THAT much deserving than 0-9 (they were 0-9 at end of regular season)

Point being they needed a fix to the system but it was more than just the district/runner ups

They need less classes

No game wasted in the NFL?  Teams rest starters all the time once they have clinched a playoff spot. Other teams tank for draft picks.  Plenty of wasted games in the NFL.

So playing a team when they sit players as opposed to playing them when they try to win makes a difference.  NFL has 32 teams.  They can have a system where every game counts.  The NFL also is not equal for all teams.  Some schedules harder than others

True but it's also rare for a team to go entire season without being exposed if they aren't good

That's why sometimes teams start 4-0 or 5-0 or 5-1 and fall apart down stretch once games get to actually be tough

Rarely does a team stay high up until playoffs before being exposed

Because you play 16 games.  Imagine if you had to play 16 games all vs teams in your region.  It would be much easier to determine playoff teams

    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy

    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
