All 4 can lose and 3 out of 4 can win

i see plantation losing by 23

vero winning by 6

columbia - toss up they had a close call vs ponte vedra who I felt was 10-12 points worst then columbia & from what I hear ponte vedra Gave that game away and Columbia was lucky to escape.

deerfield - it’s on the road I see this as a toss up Deerfield should win by 17 but u never know.

Lucky to escape?

Columbia was up 14-0 and only score came after Columbia fumbled at their own 6 yard line, defense held firm for the entire night and honestly go look at some of the scores from Ponte Vedra on offense this year than compare them to what Columbia did last night

As for Lee it's a rivalry and a team that has given Columbia issues in past few years but anyone who watched the first game will see that Columbia could have easily won it had they not gotten sloppy (4 turnovers for Columbia vs 0 for Lee)

Second round playoff records

Plantation 6-9

Vero Beach 10-13

Columbia 10-13

Deerfield Beach 9-11

The good news is that these teams have a long history of making the second round.  The bad news is that they often struggle to advance past the second round

What I'm curious about is what percentage of the teams in the state have less playoff appearances/wins than these 4 have 2nd round appearances

Getting to second round means you have to win a playoff game and there still a lot of teams who have less than 5 playoff wins all time

Heck still a lot who have no playoff wins so this list despite being one that shows second round struggles still says a lot about these teams for being good enough to win a playoff game so often and make the trip to round 2 because there still a lot of teams searching for that first ever playoff win

Speaking of which didn't you do a thread on teams still searching for a playoff win before? If not I suggest that as a future topic

Ranking in terms of number of playoff wins:

Vero Beach - tied for 29th place with 39 playoff wins

Deerfield Beach - tied for 35th place with 37 playoff wins

Columbia - 40th place with 35 playoff wins

Plantation - below 60th place

So, in a manner of speaking, these are "A-" programs, at least from a historical perspective.  There will always be some who say that A- students are better than most other students and it is a huge accomplishment.  Others may argue that with a little more effort, they could have gotten an "A."  To each his own.

Interesting that Vero and Deerfield bucked their second round trend and will meet in the third round.

Plantation loses again.  This is the fourth time this decade STA has knocked out Plantation in the second round, so it is hard to fault the Colonels.

Columbia now has more second round losses than any team in the state.

    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
    • Are you still talking to me??  Thought I was pretty clear for you not to waste your breath on this subject matter, but somehow you are missing the point.  Teacher unions have limited power in FL because the candidates they overwhelming support keep losing.  If they had won, the teacher union vote had a lot to do with it and would be wielding that power.  Osceola county which isn't a GOP stronghold during the past two national elections had the journalism students for the OHS monthly newsletter (Kowboy Jake) interview the faculty as to their political leanings.  A sample of about 30 teachers that were interviewed were voting as follows:  25 D vs 5 R.  Enough said.
    • You missed the point of my union post. Teacher unions in strong union states have power. Florida unions have zero. They cant strike and the school board can implement a contract without the unions approval. Florida unions are not preventing any raise in Florida. The state has attacked a straw man here.
    • As a general rule, I am not a big supporter of unions in the public sector in particular.  They certainly had a place in the private sector during the industrialization of our nation, but today not so much.  I have no first-hand experience with unions representing our local law enforcement or firefighters but my interaction with the teachers union over several years in that profession is the basis of my opinion.
