Columbia-Lee Game Makes the Record Books

It was the first time in FHSAA playoff history that a team won an OT playoff game and scored less than 7 points.  It was also the lowest-scoring OT playoff game in FHSAA history.  And the first time ever that two teams were tied 0-0 after an overtime period.

Playoff games ending regulation in a scoreless tie are very rare. In the 2008 3A finals, Cocoa and Godby played in a historic game that Cocoa won 7-6 in OT.

Columbia making history.

7-0 in 4 OT's damn.  No one had a kicker.

Sorry about that...CCC versus Westminster was not an OT game(there is an error in the FHSAA record book), so I will correct the original post.  Looks like Columbia has the record for first team to play more than one OT and not score a TD.

This was a rematch. Rematches almost always favor the defenses. So, it's not all that surprising that it was a defensive struggle. Though 6-3 in OT is quite the stalemate!

Columbia 2 weeks ago gave up 41 to North Marion in season finale

Columbia ended season giving up 6 points on a walkoff TD in double OT to Lee

Did Columbia defense hyper improve or was Lee offense that bad?

Now that's a thinker

Neither. The rematch was the cause of the low score. If you ever watch a no-holds barred scrimmage between the 1st teams of an athletic defense and it's own offense, you'll see the offense get eaten alive more times than not. The defense is just so familiar with the tendencies of the offense.  A Columbia rematch with NM would produce a much lower score.

I bet if they played a third time they would score more points
