Jones and NW will sell out. Nw will bring minimum 5k.

I agree. Jones has been around over 100 years and is the only surviving, historically black high school in the Orlando area. The crowd will be almost as big as when Northwestern played Boone back in 2007. That game did not live up to the crowd size, though; but well over 20,000 were at the Citrus Bowl for it.

Which day/night is the 5A state title game?

Definitely under counted. There were about 4,000 people there last night. Home side seats about 5,000 alone and was about 75% full. It was also reported in the local media that Florida High had presold 2,000 tickets which would mean only a couple hundred walk up tickets. Chaminade had a nice crowd as well, probably about 500 fans or so. Overall I would have estimated about 4,000.

That is based off the number of tickets actually sold. Bands, cheerleaders, State Series Passes, all don't count. While I won't don't your opinion, humans have a tendency to over inflate how fast and big something is.

The good news is:
2018: CM vs Kings Academy 1722
2017: CM vs Oxbridge Academy: 1355
2016: CM vs Trinity Christian (Jax) 2292
2015: AH-Delray vs Trinity Christian (Jax)  1864
2014: AH-Delray vs Trinity Christian (Jax)  1752
2013: Trinity Christian (Jax) vs Clearwater Central Catholic 1982
2012: University School (Ft.Lauderdale) vs Madison County 2193
2011: Madison vs AH-Delray 2589

Average: 1968

so basically putting the game in Tallahassee this year raised the amount by almost a 1000 people over the average. I think that is great. The FHSAA got a little lucky with a home town Florida High in the game, but hey luck is part of the equation. I expect tonight's game will be overflowing. The only change if I was the FHSAA I would make is that the 2A game should have been on Saturday afternoon instead of Thursday night. I doubt it would have made that much difference in attendance, but if 2A is going to be South Florida teams than a move to Saturday seems prudent.

As we leave Tallahassee, the total number of people who attended is 8,024.

That is a higher amount than any of the last 8 years (when 1A-Rural started). I will admit that I am kind of disappointed that 1A didn't break 5K on Saturday night. The only class that did worse than the average is 2A, by about 400, but 1A and 3A beat their averages by 1300 and 900. Overall, it looks like the FHSAA was right to chose Tallahassee if the goal was higher attendance.

The reality is that this isn't that far off from what this specific game normally draws. Wednesday night is going to kill attendance though. Game should have been played Friday afternoon instead. To get over 25K, the last 4 games have to average over 3750. Can they do it.

I expect the three Orlando area schools (Apopka, Edgewater, and Jones) will have large crowds at the games this weekend. Jones postponed a basketball game that would have prevented some folks from attending the state championship game. Daytona is only a 45 minute ride up I-4 from Orlando.

Pretty darn good actually.

Now to be honest, FHSAA lucked out a lot. 3 Orlando area schools less than an hour away, 3 traditional Miami powerhouses (Central, MNW, BTW). In Tallahassee, you had Madison and a local school in Florida (FSU) High. Overall, the teams playing on the days they were playing is as good as you could get. I still believe that a Wednesday night game is bad and the game should be moved to Friday afternoon. Beyond that, pretty good.

2007    52,750
2008    36,087
2009    33,008
2010    33,653
2011    27,164
2012    29,953
2013    25,603
2014    28,062
2015    29,078
2016    33,082
2017    30,719
2018    30,466.5 (1A attendance is unknown so I averaged the previous two years of 1A attendance)

Other than the first 2 years in Orlando were had as much to do with great Miami Northwestern teams as did anything else. Population would be the highest since 2010, not bad overall.

Way over 10k both sides were so packed they had to let people stand around the football field. And traffic was crazy. I'm thankful I was not stuck in it coming or going. This is a picture of NW side someone posted.
