Miami Central loss to Chaminade and nearly losing to palmetto in addition to Edgewater decisive win over Armwood and nearly upsetting the clear cut number 1 in FL justified top 3 IMO

This isn't even close regarding Edgewater and Miami Central. As you stated, Edgewater lost a closely contested game to STA on a neutral field. STA coach said it was their toughest game all year. The only time MC played a nationally ranked team, SFA made them look like a girls' field hockey team in a home game for MC.

I have to object to Bishop Moore being an honorable mention when their four losses came in games with #3 Edgewater, #9 Jones (twice), and Archbishop Spalding of Baltimore. You rank Vanguard #30 and Jones beat them 37-14 in playoffs; Jones beat BM two weeks earlier 32-16 in playoffs. You have South Sumter at #71; BM beat them at South Sumter 42-28, with a running clock in the 3rd quarter. SS got 2 late TD's against 3rd stringers.

There are probably many more instances where the rankings were not well thought out. I leave that to other fans to identify their teams.

Bishop Moore down the stretch faced 5 very weak teams then lost in opening round

Vanguard Knocked off a North Marion team who had just blasted a 9-1 Dunnellon team the week prior

So Bishop Moore has 1 win over a top 100 team, that is why they stayed low in the central FL rankings

As for thought put into it I did share these rankings with several people including a source in Central Florida (and probably would have shared with a few more had i had more time to do so and wasn't also in process of trying to work on another future project for a upcoming task on my podcast)

Bishop Moore is a solid team but I just wasn't all that impressed with their performances this season, in past years I've had them much higher but from what I've gathered on here and through sources they were down this year which kept them low for the season and losing in opening round didn't exactly help them jump up in the final poll

Bishop Moore down the stretch faced 5 very weak teams then lost in opening round

* One of those five "weak" teams was South Sumter who you ranked #71. BM shouldn't be penalized for beating teams that FHSAA placed in their District. Jones beat those same teams and almost lost to BM in their first playoff game, a game played at Jones.

Vanguard Knocked off a North Marion team who had just blasted a 9-1 Dunnellon team the week prior

* North Marion, Vanguard, and Dunnellon were all in the same mediocre District, a District in same Region as Jones and BM. They got luck of the RPI and didn't have to face Jones or BM early.

So Bishop Moore has 1 win over a top 100 team, that is why they stayed low in the central FL rankings

*  That win was a running clock put on South Sumter in the 3rd quarter of a home game for South Sumter.

* BM played the toughest early schedule in all of Central Florida, losing competitive games at Edgewater and at Jones, and was blown out by a very good Archbishop Spalding team. They then beat the other teams in their District, most of the time with a running clock. This is a perfect example of penalizing a team for scheduling tough out of District teams (Edgewater and Archbishop Spalding).

North Marion, Vanguard and Dunnellon may have been in a weak district but so was Jones and Bishop Moore

Those 5 were good teams but the remaining teams in both districts were bad

Blountstown strength of schedule is a 6 because they played Madison county. Before it was 1, just because they make state doesn't mean anything. 70 points put on blountstown. They should not be on this list . They played the worst teams in Florida look it up. I'm not joking the worst teams in Florida.

There aren't on the list, they are honorable mention which just means they made the top 40 of North Florida

I am not (I repeat, I am NOT) trying to make the argument that any team that I may happen to follow deserves to be on this list, and I should probably start up a whole new thread just to avoid any thoughts along those lines, but I'm too lazy.  :P

So, here's my question:  other than the 8 state champions, how many other teams in the state finished their season with at least four straight wins?

Palm Harbor University

Wharton

Alonso

Robinson

Those wins does nothing to prove a team being a top 100 team in Florida lol

In fact any 4-6 team in FL with that resume would get no consideration for rankings because they basically beat the 4 weakest teams on the schedule and lost to everyone who was good lol

My apologies.   I should have said something at the beginning of my post like:  " I am not (I repeat, I am NOT) trying to make the argument that any team that I may happen to follow deserves to be on this list, and I should probably start up a whole new thread just to avoid any thoughts along those lines, but I'm too lazy.  :P "    That would have made it clear that I wasn't trying to make an argument that Plant deserved to be in the Top 100 or even Honorable Mention.

I know I haven't been posting on this site all that long, but one thing should be clear:  if I want to make an argument for or against something, I'll just come right out and do it.   I'll state my opinion and I'll provide support for it one way or the other.  That's the way I'm programmed.  My post was not, I repeat NOT, a backdoor attempt to make an argument that Plant should have been on your list, notwithstanding my strong belief that by the end of the season, with the players they had playing in the positions they were playing, there is no doubt in my mind that Plant would have beaten several of the ranked teams and many of the Honorable Mention teams.  But, I also know that this was not the year to try to make that argument.  So I didn't.

That said, I was intrigued by the thought that, other than the state champions (who, by definition, have to win at least four straight, including their final game, in order to be state champs), how many teams could walk off the field of their final game of the season knowing they had won their last four games.   I'm guessing it's a pretty short list.  If you don't know any other teams on the list, just say so.  It's OK to say "I don't know."  You know?

Every single 8A team is waaayyy overrated in your rankings. 8A was a joke this year and by far the weakest large class in the state. I somewhat agree with the order you have for 8A, but every team belongs much further down the state rankings.

Columbus belongs no higher than #17. Every single south florida team #1-16 has a better resume, as well as Palmetto and Lakewood who took Miami Central and BTW respectively down to the wire (the same BTW that beat Columbus by 3 TDs while pulling their starters in the 4th quarter). Columbus got waxed by University 35-0 for god sakes. University!!!

And Apopka? They lost decisively to the only top 15 team they played (Jones) who in turn lost decisively to both the elite teams they played.

Honestly Deerfield Beach was probably the best team in 8A, but had to pull their annual playoff choke. Not to say their resume was particularly impressive, 8A was just that bone dry of top teams this year.

TBT at #90 is complete joke, they took Lakeland down to the wire, and their 4 losses were all to good teams.

Say what you want about Lakeland losing to Armwood who in turn lost to Edgewater (then to STA), but tbh I think a combination of Edgewater peaking at the right time along with Armwood hungover from their high of beating Lakeland in the TB super bowl while making them overconfident thinking they'd walk over Edgewater resulted in the outcome of that game.

If Armwood and Edgewater play 10 games, there is no doubt in my mind Armwood wins 7 (+/- 1) of them. I mean come on, does anyone seriously think that Lincoln and Niceville play Edgewater more competitively on the road from the panhandle (like they did) than Armwood at home under normal circumstances? Anyone who says yes is lying and they know it

Armwood slept on Edgewater, and the Eagles made them pay. Simple as that.

So I should punish Edgewater and protect Armwood because they didn't take Edgewater seriously? If anything I should be more harder on a team for beating Lakeland who was the number 1 team in Florida and defending state champs then decided to slack off in a final 4 home game

Armwood would have been a top 5 lock regardless of STA game had they beaten Edgewater but I'm not gonna punish Edgewater by putting Armwood higher just because Armwood didn't show up to play when it was time to go about it

If it was regular season i would agree with your assessment of Apopka and Columbus but they earned top 10 FL with their playoff runs IMO, 8a weaker than 6a this year? Come on now!!

I never said you should punish Edgewater, did I bold their name while pointing out my issues?

You can base your rankings on whatever you want, clearly on field resume (or not, considering some shocking oversights listed). That is fine and your right. My point however is I do not believe Edgewater is a better team than Armwood, rather they benefited from an unfocused overconfident opponent that assumed it had already booked its date with STA by knocking off Lakeland the previous week. And going back to my original point, TBT playing them competitively down to the wire is a very impressive showing as Lakeland is indeed an elite team and better than Edgewater as well imo. That, combined with their only other losses being to good teams, makes their placement at #90 a completely laughable joke.

Columbus and Apopka earned it with their playoff runs? Are you serious? Against mediocrity (to clarify, relative to the state elite, yes they are good teams and beat decent to good teams in general sense to get there, but compared to top teams in the state, it was against an incredibly weak group of teams)

I guess the female gold medalists in track and are faster/better than the men's non finalists

Apopka beat 2 undefeated teams (both on the road) and a 1 loss Steinbrenner team

What about that was weak?

Ok?

There are a heckuva lotta teams that wouldve gone undefeated with Bartram Trail and Seminole's schedules. Not a single marquee win between them

And Steinbrenner? Who managed to dodge the top 6 or 7 teams in its own county on its schedule and lost to the only one of Hillsborough's top 10 it did play? Give me a break

And Steinbrenner beat Osceola, who beat Columbus, who beat Apopka, who beat Steinbrenner,.......and in circles we go in the pool of 8A teams that do not belong anywhere near the discussion of the states elite

I could say the same about Escambia who is high in most people's rankings
