ok maybe not homer for a conference  maybe hatred for one

I don't hate the SEC

I hate this idea that the entire conference is great because of the success of a few teams, the teams like LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Florida are good to great teams but the other 9 teams in the conference suck

4/5 teams I listed above have won national titles in past 20 years so why should the entire conference been seen as elite when in reality it's a few good teams that are successful and a lot of coat tail riders who chant SEC! SEC! SEC! as if these other teams have done anything to contribute to the conference success besides be cannon fodder for the top teams to beat up on

Look I agree Texas AM wasn't that good neither was Kentucky.  However they are both on par with Virginia who wasn't very good.  All 3 teams are probably some where between 25-40 ranking.

Oh and if you lose by 17 you are not elite.

Does that also mean Ohio State isn't elite because they lost to that Clemson team?

Or that Alabama isn't elite because they lost to Auburn who took a loss to Minnesota who lost to the team who lost to that Ohio State team?

Alabama was not elite this year.  Too many injuries.  Ohio State was really really really good but got screwed by the officials.  Yes they had their chances but they still got screwed.

Ohio State also settled for field goals and called a conservative game plan that let Clemson get back in the game

Them losing was their own fault

as bad as Ohio State played it still took the officials to bail Clemson out

But had they not settled for field goals when they had Clemson on the ropes those blown calls would have not made any difference

They should have been up 24-0 in that game but settled for field goals that gave Clemson life

Ultimately they still got screwed by the refs but you are correct it shouldn't have come to that which is more reason Clemson is not elite this year.

Virginia was not on par.  Virginia was tier 3 SEC.  Put them in with Kentucky and Texas A&M

They played a great game, but it took magic from the QB to keep it close IMO.

Plus it's not like UK didn't play UF close.

On the flip side you could say FL played LSU better than Clemson.    Yet I still don't think FL was a better team than Clemson.
