I think we should all get over this "Madison is only good because they are in 1A fairy tale".

2011 - Class 3A   13-2

2012 - Class 3A    12-3

2013 - Class 4A     5-5 (probably adjusting to 4A play)

2014 - Class 4A    11-4

Madison, like Pahokee, is an exceptional team that would be competitive in any class. So, please, everyone let's end this false premise once and for all.

Great info, I don’t know much about them so I don’t know their history but from what I see just off results their a Florida powerhouse that’s nothing to play with year in & out.

2020 got more transfers went 15-0 beating STA in a rematch. Calling it now.

2021  Edgewater coach gets suspended for 8 games and fined $5,000 for recruiting violations and/or team forced to forfeit multiple games because on an ineligible players.

(Editor's note:  post is not intended to insinuate that Edgewater has done either of those things thus far; instead, it's intended to make the point that once a program rises to the top of mountain, it typically wants to stay there . . . and it's a lot harder to stay on top for a sustained period of time than it is to put together a good run for one or two seasons).

The school is not overcrowded. It has 8A capacity but only 7A enrollment. So, unless there is evidence of blatant contact with kids, they have pretty much a blank check to recruit in the environment we are currently in.

Unless you put it in writing or on a video they can't prove it.

Yes , how does a team go from multiple bad seasons, or average seasons. To almost beating the king of Florida. Even if they were loaded. STA should have won big.

I attended the 8A title game, and Edgewater looked like the better, more physical team to me. A couple of turnovers in the second half really coast the Eagles, and contributed to STA points. Edgewater very easily could, and possibly should, have won that football game.

Darter, can explain what you mean by this?   Clearly, a school that has capacity can accept transfers or incoming students who live in other districts.   But what does "blank check to recruit in the environment we are currently in" mean?

It means an enterprising coaching staff that goes about it in a discrete way, can get transfers in without much hassle or fear of fines or suspensions. Now if you do it the Manatee way (see other post), then that would be problematic.

Edgewater shares boundaries with: Jones (to the southwest), Evans (to the northwest), Wekiva (north, northwest), Winter Park (to the east) and Boone (to the southeast). All of these schools have talent in their zones. And none are that far from Edgewater. Getting transfers in from any of them would not be much of a hassle. Of course, the same would apply to Edgewater kids seeking a new home.

Edgewater's Schedule

KOC: Dr. Phillips
1: Bishop Moore
2: Oak Ridge
3: Jones (Orlando)
4. John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, LA)
5. Winter Park
6. Wekiva
7. Booker T Washington (Miami)
8. South Lake
9. Bye
10. Forest (Ocala)
11. Boone (Orlando)

Aside from Oak Ridge and district schools, South Lake and Forest, which are very weak (or were last year), this is a solid schedule.

Assuming they return all the impact kids and get a few key transfers or kids moving up from Freshman class with talent, I could see them going somewhere between 10-0 and 8-2  in the regular season (assuming we have one).

Personally, I would love to see Edgewater resume its rivalry with Apopka. In the first decade of this century this was the game of the week in greater Orlando.

Madison county would destroy them in 2020. Check out this running back. He gonna be a freshman  http://www.hudl.com/v/2CYQEG

It would be a good game.  Madison county has a fine program with one douchebag fan.  That kid is going to be really special for Madison in a few years.

Nah this season. He might be one of Florida's best to ever play.

    • Here is a tough one. 1980 Gainesville or Tate. Both 13-1 Here is the tape of the tape. Please let me know what you think.    Tale of the tape.    Tate - class 4A only loss was against 8-2 Choctaw by 4 points  beat 12-1 Miami Columbus in the title game 35-7 but the game was in Pensacola. Meaning Columbus had to drive almost 10 hours  Gainesville - class 3A only loss was against 10-1 Palatka by 8 points  beat Titusville 21-0 in the title game on the road in Titusville
    • For 1997 I picked Carol City over Raines. It was tough but CC finished top 5 in the nation according to USAToday. And they played a tougher schedule. It’s tough when you have the top 2 teams both undefeated.
    • Yeah in the 70’s-90’s the debate will most likely be between the top 2 largest class state champs
    • 1976 - Godby HS went 14-0, defeated ledgendary Gene Cox, Leon Lions for the 1st time in school history in its last game of the regular season. Beat a Carol City Team, (that would come back the next year to win the 1977 state title), 21-15 in Lakeland, FL for the 1976 4A title. Two members of that Godby team (Sammy Knight, Chris Hobbs) would then lead FAMU to a upset win over the University of Miami. 1978 - Meritt Island - Beat Carl Madison coached (going to see the name Carl Madison alot through out the 80's),Pine Forrest for the 4A state Title 20-16 and would go on to be repeat state champs winning the 1979 state 4A state title as well, seeing Pine Forrest once again in the Finals 1979 - Merritt Island - Beat Pine Forrest 19-14 1980 - Argument could be made that 3A state Champ Gainesville HS was the states best, as they defeated Titusville on Titusville's home field 21-15, but in the end Carl Madison's (who we'll talk about again in the 80's), Tate HS has to be considered the state best destorying Miami Columbus HS 35-7! 1981 - Again 3A would again have to be where the state's best team played. Palatka after struggling in its 1st round game went on to dominate evenutally winning the state title 42-2 over Suncoast. Unlike Vero Beach (which won the 4A state itle that year), Palatka was loaded with star power, with 2 of its players eventually playing in the NFL (John L Williams, and Jarvis Williams) 1982 - Going 3A once again as Titusville would shutout 3 of its 4 playoff opponents, winning the state title over Osceola 33-0 1983 - 4A Manatee High School goes 14-0 for its 1st state title and the beginning of a dynasty through out the 80's and into the early 90's   more later.......
