Class 3A Playoffs

Going into tonight's games looking at the powerhouses from the North playing in Ocala with Jacksonville Trinity Christian versus Ocala Trinity Catholic. Word is the winner here is the State Champ representative from the North.

Question seems to me is who is going to be the representative from the South? Is it going to be Clearwater Central Catholic or will it be American Heritage-Delray?

From the North I've got Jax TCA

From the South I've got AH-D

I have Heritage Delray winning the class this year. They are a complete football team this year with playmakers spread across the field. Crazy how much they improved from last years team. That CCC matchup should be really interesting though. I think JTC has shown some vulnerability and will be beat in the final.

JTC can be beat that is for sure. Wouldn't shock me to see AH-D beat them either. Any one of those 4 teams mentioned in this thread can win it all truthfully.

CCC plays Sarasota Cardinal Mooney and AHD plays Miami Westminster Christian. CCC will win and AHD should take care of Westminster. That will then determine the South champs. The reason I said who's it gonna be out CCC or AHD was because it's been a bit of a tossup. CCC was runner ups to Trinity Christian last year and return some fine players. However, their M.O. is offensively outscoring you with not a lot of D. AHD has been considered the team on fire and able to potentially beat anyone. Their M.O. has been a good offense and a good D without either side of the ball being lights out.

Up North tonight is for the marbles. Jax Trinity Christian (TCA) is just plain stout! They've scheduled anyone who will play them in order to get battle-tested for the stretch run. GA powerhouse Buford and football lab IMG being their only losses. Their M.O. is one of the baddest defenses around with several bonafide D1 studs. The offense is better and a bit more diverse than in the past with a little thing called the forward pass being discovered there. Lol. Ocala Trinity Catholic (OTC) has a better team this year than they did last year when TCA beat up on them and eliminated them en route to the hardware. OTC's got a good RB and a good group on both sides of the line of scrimmage. They have a good but inexperienced QB and some good WRs. Their M.O. is offense.

Personally, I'm with Trinity Christian winning the gold medals again this year but beginning tonight they will have a test and then another one for the top of the podium in either CCC or AHD.

LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

Trinity Christian faced a TOUGH Ocala Trinity Catholic and emerged victorious. Hat's off to the Conquerors of TCA on a step closer to the hardware. Now on to the next round where they will face a game Lakeland Christian.

CCC got a gritty win against Cardinal Mooney but may have lost their star QB for the rest of the playoffs. I've learned it was a bad sprain and bone bruise but whether he can play or not remains to be seen. It looked as if there was gonna be a battle next week with American Heritage Delray either way, and AHD solidly did their part to ensure that, but without QB Jeff Smith the CCC Marauders are gonna be a few bullets short of a loaded gun. Not how you want to enter your biggest gunfight to date.

Well Jax TCA and AHD for the championship....again! Let's go Conquerors! Hats off to Lakeland Christian. Man they were giving our guys fits last night. I give them a lot of credit because they were ready and came to play! They showed they belong, that's for sure. TCA secondary bowed up when necessary and made some timely picks to save the bacon.

Pulling for the Conquerors here JB! They shall conquer AH-D and once again lift the trophy and enjoy more rings. What a great program up there in Jacksonville!

Thanks man! Dorminey is a great man and Trinity is a great school! They do things first class with honor and dignity and faith! It is really awesome seeing the kids grow up in the program and excel!

I'm glad you feel like we are gonna win it all. I know it will be a battle since AHD is burning things up down south. I look forward to this Saturday in O-town! The stadium is all renovated now so can't wait to see it. The "old" one was decrepit.

JB, you know the old saying styles make fights and I feel like this year a healthy CCC matched up better with Trinity (yeah I know they got 63 pointed but they were missing their best 2 players which is essentially FSU with out Winston and Green).  Since AH-D is not a very good throwing team I feel they are going to have trouble running into the teeth of the Trinity strength... I got Trinity it a 3 peat (is this the 3rd year in a row?)

Where you coming from STARaider since you say "down"?

Yeah Peez. You are correct. AHD had best figure out how to sling it around some if they are to have any hope. But then again, there are studs that reside in the secondary as well for Trinity. Lakeland Christian was made one-dimensional by the run D of The Conquerors and for a while was making things happen with the short passing game. As always, Trinity adjusted and sat on a few throws and the rest is history. I was at the FREEZING cold TCA/LCS game and for a while LCS was making some folks nervous. But as you mention, if AHD can't consistently move the ball it will be a long afternoon.

I was also at last year's CCC/Trinity matchup so I know what you mean about the aerial attack. Also know they were without there boys. Tough break. Blame it on IMG  ;)

I live in Charlotte, NC and cover HS Football up here as well, but I still keep up with FLA football through film and such. I very well may come down if Aquinas makes it. Will keep you updated :P

HI guys!

I live in Delray and have been following American Heritage all season.  They lost their first game against Miramar where they actually outplayed them.  Since that time, they have beaten one of the best big teams in Alabama on the road, American Heritage Plantation, Glades Central etc.  Yes they don't throw much (although they completed several long passes last week against Clearwater Catholic) mainly because they haven't had to.  No one has been able to stop their running attack.  They are just incredibly quick. They wear down opponents. They have put up big rushing numbers against very good teams.  Will be an interesting matchup.  I am going to drive up from Delray this weekend and looking forward to this matchup.  Should be a good one.  Will be interested to see if Trinity can stop AHD's offensee

Jerry it is indeed interesting that you followed these guys and have been able to give some insight to it other than just word of mouth and film. To the point made before, AHD has used their run game effectively to control games. However, Trinity Christian's out and out strength is their defense. More specifically their RUN defense. So....strength on strength? I don't know but something will have to give. As I mentioned, Lakeland Christian could not run the ball and tried to use their short passing game to 1) offset the Trinity pressure on the passer and 2) replace what they could NOT do in the run game. Worked for a bit. Until......dun dun dun.....they adjusted.

Good luck to your fellow Delray boys.

Oh ok. That's good stuff! I have an old schoolmate friend in that area. I also briefly attended school a little bit west of you in Boiling Springs.

Hi JB!

Should be interesting.  However look at American Heriitage's schedule below.  If you will notice, since 9/26/2014, they have been under 40 points one time and that was in the second round of the tournament  against Westminster Christian.  I should note that it was pouring all day and the field was muddy.  If it rains on Saturday, it will definitely slow American Heritage down.  Look at AHD's schedule again, they played mostly much bigger schools (Central HS in alabama is a power.  They just lost in the bigger school tourney to Prattville who they beat earlier in the year).

They also beat nationally ranked American Heritage Plantation who is nationally ranked. Lastly, AHD is not Lakeland (they did score 28 points).  I am definitely looking forward to this matchup.  Regards

Jerry

Jerry, I'm well aware of AHD. Have been for some time and going back a few years. If you can recall Trinity Christian and American Heritage have traded wins and losses in the championship games a few times.

I know Clearwater Central Catholic and American Heritage Delray have been the two favorites to represent the south end of the FHSAA playoff brackets this year. Just as my Trinity Christian Conquerors and Ocala Trinity Catholic were thought to be the ones representing the north.

I've got nothing but respect for those boys but I also know what Trinity is. I know whom they've played and what they are capable of. They are a mighty bunch and this coming saturday in the new Citrus Bowl in O-town looks to be a fun one. Guess we'll just have to see won't we  ;)

Yes it should be fun.  Unfortunately, I just looked at the weather forcast and it calls for rain.  If it rains, I won't drive up.  Will watch it on stream. Are you going??

Rain or shine sir! I've got family in the game. Wouldn't miss it.

Ohhhh GWU! Crest HS is a HS in Boiling Springs. Power house up here hahaha

I don't remember anything in Boiling Springs but a single stop light, a Hardee's, a laundromat, convenience store (I think), and a little old gas station. We had to go over into Shelby for ANYTHING just about. For entertainment even further. LOL. I'll bet that's what you're thinking.

    • Complaining about North Florida slappies losing to South Florida powers is like someone graduating high school complaining that companies are only hiring college graduates and not them. And then a company saying ok to make it fair, we will open division and only hire high school graduates.
    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
