I can think of a better description than unlucky. That team must have been pretty bad.

Somebody on here should know this one.  The game did not involve some obscure private school getting blown out.  Both teams involved are public schools.

In 2001, Naples scored a record 63 points in the first quarter and went on to be at Lely 85-0.

the state record is 130-0. Jax University Christian beat a team called Victory Christian in 1973 by that score. 
 

UC only had 22 players on their roster!

Wouldn't it have been same victory Christian out of Polk county who went to state last year?

No.  Victory Christian (Lakeland) played their 1st season in 2006 and were state runner-ups.  Most of the players that made up that roster came from the now defunct Evangel Christian squad that won a title in 2005.

just to clarify, the record I mentioned in the original post was most points in the first quarter

And from what I've read about both the Estero and Lely games, coach Kramer of Naples did everything he could to keep from running up the score.
