Who Is This FL HS Legend? Omar Jacobs/PB Atlantic

Despite putting up gaudy numbers in hs, this fellow was lightly recruited.  He ended up going to a lesser-known university, where he proved the critics wrong and had a spectacular career.  Prior to an injury in his junior year, he was considered a contender for the Heisman Trophy.  He was eventually drafted into the NFL.

There is a good chance someone on here saw this guy play, since he lit up a certain team in the playoffs for 4 TD's and 270 yards one year.  

Who is he?

Where did he play in high school?

Where did he play in college?

Who was that team he lit up?(sorry if this brings back bad memories for some)

It is Omar Jacobs of Delray Beach Atlantic.  He threw for over 7000 career passing yards in hs. In 2001, his senior year at Alantic, he led his team to 3 straight playoff wins on the road before losing to Naples in the state semis. 

The knock on him in hs was that he was not refined.  But some fellow named Urban Meyer at Bowling Green saw something in him and Jacobs ended up playing there in the early 2000's.  In his sophomore year at BG, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound qb led the nation with 41 touchdown passes, and he threw only four interceptions.  10.25 touchdown passes for every interception was the best in NCAA history at the time.  Jacobs completed 66.9 percent of his passes in his record-setting season and was named the MAC's offensive player of the year and MVP of the GMAC Bowl.  Coming into his junior year, Jacobs was a second-team preseason All-American, but an injury set him back.  He skipped his senior season and entered the NFL draft, where he was drafted by the Steelers.

Anyone remember seeing this guy in the playoffs?  A certain team came south and got a taste of Mr Jacobs.  I know there are some fans of that team on here.

Omar Jacobs lit up Vero Beach in 2000.  He was returning the favor for a beatdown the previous year in Vero.  I thought there might be a Vero fan out there who saw Omar play in one of both of those games.
