The last time I was in contact with Coach Peacock I gave him Columbia’s Athletic Director Email and the schools phone number. We discussed only week 1 because I saw that Columbia had it open. Unless you guys would be willing to come to Powell Davis, Its a waste of time because Peacock is specifically looking for home games. I could try again but you guys have to come to us.

Hardee has a bye week on 10/23. So far we have a 9 game schedule with 5 home games. Don't know if coach Kemp would be willing or not but we did have Vero scheduled before all this.  Not a long drive. We last played Venice in 1988.

9/25 is our county first game date so that is columbia week 1

It probably would be tough to happen this year but hopefully once reclassification is done I'll try and find out what openings we have for next year and I'll keep you in loop on any openings I find out in the future so hopefully we can make something happen

Sheesh. This isn’t going to be easy. I’ll let Peacock know about week 4 (1 for you) and possibly week 7, depending where that falls for you guys. Chaminade Madonna just cancelled the deal with Venice so this may actually be possible. Columbia is always a damn good team, and I would love to see them match up with Venice!

We have TCA for 9/25 so only opening that may be available (I'd Columbia hasn't filled it) would be 10/23

Though i can't guarantee Columbia would travel during this pandemic so honestly it would be easier to work on a future year but I do hope they can work something out either this season or maybe next season if things can't work out this year

I told him again, and informed him of Hardee as well, @Hwy17. I have done my part columbiafan. Let’s just hope the stars align and we can see this matchup in 2020. If not, it would be possible to schedule in 2021.

For sure I hope it can work out either this year or maybe next season

Why do you keep saying Hawthorne has a threat to Madison.  Look at their records over the years please.

I could say the same with you bringing up Newberry

Also go look at Cardinal Gibbons records from earlier this decade before they won a state title in 2018

In FL climate past records is slowly losing it's value when it comes to team evaluation because teams can literally change their skill level overnight

You bash Hawthorne for their recent record yet without even looking I'll guess they have won more games last 3 years than Newberry and I don't believe Newberry has even won a postseason game in what? 5 years?

What's your justification for them using "past records" when you keep bashing Hawthorne for the same reason

If past records discredits Hawthorne it certain does for Newberry, can't have it both ways

Vero's coach has not announced that we are playing Venice yet. But I hope it happens!!

The Venice coach announced it on his twitter, I doubt he’d put it out there without confirmation from Vero.

I did see the Twitter announcement but he did the same for AHP only for it to fall through

It probably does depend on treasure Coast school board signing off on the game but if the coach at Vero hasn't confirmed it then it's not a good sign early

Hope game happens but it's not optimistic with that detail in play

Trinity Christian must be scared of Madison,  because Madison schedule sandlewood from Jacksonville.  Trinity should schedule or bolles.

Upper class schools playing against a 1a school creates a dilemma; lose to a 1a school and no matter how good the 1a school is, you suck. Beat a 1a school, then you're a bully.  They do little to help prepare you against top teams in your own class. If you have one that is a rival on your schedule every year, the fans and alums want to keep, but you drop them for the above reasons, now your scared. Bad situation no matter what.

They said same thing with us when we lost in 2017 to Madison despite having to play 2 games in 4 days and having no practice before playing Madison

As for the bully part we will play any team willing to come to Lake City as long as the demands are reasonable (we not paying a team 10-20k to come to us)

But one thing I do respect about Madison is they will play us, same with TCA

Can't say the same for a lot of the soft teams up here who bailed on series and opportunities to play

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
