Looked like this was a rough weekend for some big names. 

American Heritage 41 Venice 26 

Cardinal Gibbons 17 STA 10 (these guys need to play more often)

Jones 31  Edgewater 13

Did I miss any? A weekend that makes High School Football great!

 

And just for full disclosure Lakeland got it's butt kicked again Bloomingdale 39 LHS 14

An upset would imply that an inferior team beat a superior team. There is no evidence to support this at the moment. 

I tend to think of an "upset" as when the underdog team (especially a double-digit points underdog) beats the favored team.  To my knowledge, there are no odds-makers for Florida high school sports.   The closest thing would be Joe Pinko's.  For what it's worth, Pinko's had STA "favored" by 3 and Edgewater favored by 6.  Those spreads are close enough that I would not really call either the win by Cardinal Gibbons or the win by Jones an upset.  Venice, on the other hand, was favored by 17.   So, I think you could safely call that one an upset -- assuming your willing to accept the Pinko's "line." 

Pinko's is still running a little higher than 80% correct in terms of predicting the winner.   Power ranking differential (which, I believe, translates to the projected point difference -- or what we think of as a point spread) is going to be particularly difficult this year because of Covid.    Depending on quarantine rules, the players that take the field one week for a particular team may be quite different than the players who take the field for the same team a week or two later.

      First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems.       They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
