I'm not knocking the school; they have athletes on that campus. As for the coaches on that campus not allowing multiple sport athletes, shame on them. It does the athletes a disservice in either sport by trying to hoard them.

I almost require the football players to play another sport. It does them better. Wrestling has always been great for the line. Track and basketball and baseball for the skilled players. It helps them to be well rounded

Some kids today would be shocked if they knew what hs athletes did in the past, excelling in multiple sports.  No doubt kids today are stronger and the talent pool in individual sports is deeper.  But I would argue that there were many athletes of yesterday who were better overall athletes than some of today.

The endurance of some football players today, even in the NFL, pales in comparison to many rugby or soccer players.  Many great hs football players of yesterday were also great hs wrestlers, whereby a lot of hs linemen I see today today could not make it half way through a wrestling practice at one of the hs wreslting powerhouses without ending up on the floor gasping for air.
