Some Intriguing Future Matchups

7A Region 1 Niceville @ Buchholz Here's one of those I-10 matchups that usually seems to give an edge to the home team.  Buchholz had to travel to the Panhandle and beat an undefeated Navarre team to advance...never an easy road trip.  Now its Niceville's turn to make the big trip.  The last time they did against Edgewater, things did not turn out so well.

7A Region 3 Armwood @ Bloomingdale  Can Bloomingdale beat Armwood twice in one season?  These two schools are only about 10 miles apart, so this game has some local flavor.  Whudda thunk that one day Bloomingdale would be a football contender?  30 years from now today's doormat program could be chasing a state title.

6A Region 1 Mainland @ Columbia   Any time you put these two programs on the same field, you've got a good matchup.

4A Region 2 Bolles @ South Sumter   These two teams have a great history.  South Sumter was a contender in 2A back in the early 2000's and used to give Bolles fits.

3A Region 4 Chaminade-Madonna @ Edison   Edison has steamrolled its 2 playoff opponents and gave Miami Central a game, holding the Rockets to only 14 points.  CM seems to be pretty one-dimensional...stop their big rb and you've got a chance.  I have not seen Edison, but in years past they have fielded some physical teams.  Back in the early 2000's, Edison bullied a favored CM team.  CM has struggled in years past against very physical Miami-Dade teams, and this one is being played in Dade.

First time Columbia and Mainland will face off on a football field in 20 years (2000)

For good note of what was the last time they played, that was Fort White and Bartram Trail first season's in their program's history

Though Columbia and Mainland faced off in the regional finals of basketball this past season

I could see Edison winning this game, won't be easy but I give them a decent shot here

Brevard has some interesting matchups other than Eau Gallie at Cypress Lake, the other slate of games could be really close to getting out of hand if they don't play up to the level they can play.

AHP at Rockledge

Viera at Edgewater

Cocoa at Tampa Catholic

AHP looked very tough last night.  I watched part of the game on NFHS.  Their D is legit.

Oh I can tell from the score from last night. I'm just interested to see how Rockledge can respond to a team like AHP. Also, this will be their 2nd time playing each other in the past 3 seasons.

The Raiders have a shot, but need to play mistake free football.

If I lived in Brevard County, they would be my team. I have much respect for Rockledge.

Yea they definitely have a chance but they will have to play as perfect a game as they can.

I'm a Rockledge alum as well as my shop lead up here in Jacksonville. I was telling him the other day that if they won Friday this would be the best chance they would have at beating AHP or Northwestern after those 2 heavyweights battled.

Rockledge has the playmakers to keep up at each level. Now it's on the defense to make plays and stops. And on the offensive coordinator to call great plays and use both quarterbacks effectively, which he didn't do in the game against Cocoa. In that game they only had one play that they used Bryce Norton on which was a designed QB run that got stuffed.

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
