State Titles before the 60’s

Before the FHSAA created the playoffs in the 60’s, most private schools competed for a real state title. Back in the 40’s and 50’s there was a North Florida Catholic League and South Florida Catholic League, and the champions of each league would play each other for the State Catholic League Championship. So technically the regular season was the playoffs. Lol. I’ll post the results later to the game I know

The Big Ten Champ was considered the State Champion. Plant got one or two way back. So did Hillsborough.

Yeah that was the top conference for a while. Teams like Miami High, Lee, Gainesville, Orlando, Jackson, Lakeland, West Palm, St Pete and Edison all called the Big Ten Conference home back in the day

Marketing genius!

They need to repaint the wording on the water tower!

PLANT HIGH SCHOOL

HOME OF STATE CHAMPIONS
(AND BIG 10 TITLES)

:P

Plant won it in 1931. Imagine seeing someone with a shirt on that says Plant High - 1931 Big 10 Champs!

I had heard a rumor that the 1931 Plant Big 10 Champions even got to go visit President Herbert Hoover in the White House!
