Let’s Talk, Should The (TRI COUNTY) Title Be Respected Just As Much As The “FHSAA TITLE”??

I would really like everyone’s opinion on this. As We All Know Covid Struck the entire nation & it effected everything including football.

with that said everybody wasn’t able to opt in compete for a FHSAA title, & some were Givin the option to opt in or opt out “MIAMI DADE”, but for the counties that wasn’t given that option “BROWARD, WEST PALM” we were forced to settle for a Shortened regular season & A (TRI COUNTY) playoffs & Championship.

even in that tho u had a a lot of solid matchups and a lot of hard work & dedication put in. So for the teams that went all the way and won that championship and held that trophy at the end in my opinion that should not only be RESPECTED but also counted as a “REAL CHAMPIONSHIP” & not because Dillard won but that’s how I feel in general, what are y’all thoughts ?? @DarterBlue2 @Proseteye

My thoughts are: 1. A winner of a regional title, should be given respect for winning it. 2. In some classes, the winner of this title likely would have represented the south in the state finals (8A being the best example). In that case, winning the title should at least bestow the same respect that a state finalist should get. In other classes, the winner would, at best, likely have played for the regional title if they had been in the state series. 6A is an example of this. Who would Dillard have played if it were in the state series? Likely Miami Central. What would the outcome of such a match have been? I honestly don't know, but Central would have been the favorite. If Dillard had somehow beaten Central would have its state title chances been? Very decent at the least. They would have likely been at least cofavorite against Palmetto, and if they won that game, they would have likely beaten the north finalist, Lake Minneola.

So, to conclude, the extent of my respect for the regional winners is a function of their classes, with some classes having more significance to me than others.

I respect your analysis my personal opinion Amy team Dillard would have played this year would have got the rage of us loosing our head coach the way we did.

as u said MC would have been favorites as they should be, would the game have went their way ? We would never know. But as I said up top I do believe a “TITLE” is a title if you had to go through a playoff format & play in a championship then I believe a win should b added & counted among the previous trophies you won in the regular FHSAA

No its not the same. Its not going to be added in the record books. Even if GC would of won I'll still say GC has 6 State Championships. Its just a messed up season I'll appreciate the FHSAA trying to make something out of nothing. Just getting ready for the next season when the Virus goes away  and we can compete for a State Championship.

True, so the champion of the tri state that won’t be added to the record books as a title ?

if that’s the case then for the ones that couldn’t opt in they would have been better off just making us suffer without a season At all.

to have a shortened season tri county or not, playoffs and a championship game then say it doesn’t count that’s crazy.

I fell you, Dillard. Columbus was in a position to defend their title this year, but it wasn't meant to be. The Tri-Country title is nice, but it is no state title. I know the boys are proud that they got to do the best with what they had. Coaches are happy too.

Overall, I'm still glad it was played to give the young men a few games and some film for recruiters. Fans like me were happy that we got something. Let's just hope that we are the first and the LAST Tri-county winners ever.

I know that’s right. It just felt so good to see us hold up a trophy for the first time since I’ve been born in football. And to see so much love & happiness & excitement over this championship within the community hearing so many “WE FINALLY DID IT” only for it not to count or really mean anything.

but aye a title is a title, we won it. We just to go to hope next year we can vye for the “REAL THING”

    • Complaining about North Florida slappies losing to South Florida powers is like someone graduating high school complaining that companies are only hiring college graduates and not them. And then a company saying ok to make it fair, we will open division and only hire high school graduates.
    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
