The fact a team who literally didn't play a single game stayed in the top 10 showed just how horrible these rankings are, heck the team who used all their players isn't a top 10 team but the team who didn't suit up is?

Even more ridiculous is the team that lost to #2 STA by 10 points in the 7A State Championship game, despite outgaining STA by 100 yards and committing 5 turnovers (2 inside STA 10 yard line), is ranked 11th.

1. You can't have an idle team in the top 10. There is no basis.

2. Edgewater would have beaten St. Thomas if it was not for: 5 fumbles, 2 interceptions, and a missed field goal.

3. Apopka led Seminole well into the fourth quarter and lost by four but they are not ranked.

I could go on and on, but I won't. All I got to say is your list needs work.

I was surprised actually I thought edgewater would be highly.

I was wondering the same thing how did they stay ranked without plying a down?! And I thought U SCHOOL was private so how come they didn’t opt in.

Well it's not they didn't opt in

I believe the school itself shut down athletics for the fall (or year, someone from SFL needs to clarify this) so TRU Prep took the kids so they could have a season so it's funny TRU prep is lower than the school who was basically the former team lol

Typo on my part. But my opinion of the list stays the same. I am not surprised Max Preps has this kind of garbage for a list. they don't put the effort or resources into what they do and CBS should either upgrade it or shut it down as it is an embarrassment.

They could easily hire someone off this site to do the list and it would be many times better.

In terms of football maxpreps poll is generally trash that I rarely even look at

Though it does sometimes help me when doing rankings for other sports that don't have any other reliable sources out there because I can compare what I have to those polls and then analyze the early season results when doing my first poll to get a start point

But that's mainly because I don't have the kind of sources for other sports like I do for football so I usually have to wait for a few weeks into the season to do a poll

STA ranked above a team that beat them? University ranked above undefeated teams? Poo...

Maxpreps gets a lot of rankings from CalPreps, and we know they favor certain teams in their algorithms to futher their agenda.

Which is crazy.

Once again Osceola is left out. Yes the better team won (Seminole). Played 4 of 5 games on the road and beat Palmetto in the "MECCA" which was the best Miami had to offer. TFOH, not expecting top 10, but can't squeeze in the top 25. Come on Man!

Osceola should have been a top 25 team. Especially when you look at their list which has a number of questionable inclusions.

But tbh if you ask me a lot of these “sport analysis” don’t know about the teams they rank.

I know. But even if they assigned a person who did not know, if that individual just kept up with what happened during the season, he/she could have done better.

    • Yeah in the 70’s-90’s the debate will most likely be between the top 2 largest class state champs
    • 1976 - Godby HS went 14-0, defeated ledgendary Gene Cox, Leon Lions for the 1st time in school history in its last game of the regular season. Beat a Carol City Team, (that would come back the next year to win the 1977 state title), 21-15 in Lakeland, FL for the 1976 4A title. Two members of that Godby team (Sammy Knight, Chris Hobbs) would then lead FAMU to a upset win over the University of Miami. 1978 - Meritt Island - Beat Carl Madison coached (going to see the name Carl Madison alot through out the 80's),Pine Forrest for the 4A state Title 20-16 and would go on to be repeat state champs winning the 1979 state 4A state title as well, seeing Pine Forrest once again in the Finals 1979 - Merritt Island - Beat Pine Forrest 19-14 1980 - Argument could be made that 3A state Champ Gainesville HS was the states best, as they defeated Titusville on Titusville's home field 21-15, but in the end Carl Madison's (who we'll talk about again in the 80's), Tate HS has to be considered the state best destorying Miami Columbus HS 35-7! 1981 - Again 3A would again have to be where the state's best team played. Palatka after struggling in its 1st round game went on to dominate evenutally winning the state title 42-2 over Suncoast. Unlike Vero Beach (which won the 4A state itle that year), Palatka was loaded with star power, with 2 of its players eventually playing in the NFL (John L Williams, and Jarvis Williams) 1982 - Going 3A once again as Titusville would shutout 3 of its 4 playoff opponents, winning the state title over Osceola 33-0 1983 - 4A Manatee High School goes 14-0 for its 1st state title and the beginning of a dynasty through out the 80's and into the early 90's   more later.......
