Any scores?

FPC beat Oxbridge like 28-18 - heard it was a pretty good battle. Travis Homer had a 99-yd TD (think it was a kickoff return) and had another long TD called back for the ThunderWolves.

Sounds like both could be shaking things up in their respective classes this season.

At FPC.  Mostly a 3 point game throughout, til late in the game.

FPC looked good, strong passing game.  QB was cool and skilled, both passing and when he ran the ball, good deception ability, good misdirections, Ox fooled more often than not.

FPC's small scatback could really run the ball too, behind a strong, big line.  FPC's defense was balanced across the board, with good anticipation.  Big edge to FPC's defense, especially on 3rd downs.

Ox intercepted FPC at the 1.  Next play was a 99 yard TD run.

Rust on both sides of course, being a pre-season game.  Lotsa penalties too, many questionable that went against both sides  affecting drive momentum for both teams.

FPC seemed to have a better kicking game/special teams.

Both teams showed a lot of talent and depth, fun game to watch.  If they can both improve execution, they both could put lots of points up this season, more so FPC while OX seemed inconsistent.   FPC kept pressure up on both sides of the ball throughout, while Ox appeared to go flat at times plus their passing game needs work.  Believe FPC will go further down the stretch in 8A, while not so for Ox in 3A, especially against a far better team like AHS.  Ox is competitive, but no where near the hype.  FPC will just get better, having more unseen potential.  Just my 2 cents.

Some interesting games this preseason. Eyebrow raise at the AHP vs IMG game. Who would have thought that AHP would come out looking like they were still playing from 2014. I think IMG was caught off gaurd at the intensity that AHP brought up to Bradenton. Paterson is a complete QB and had he had some receivers that could catch I think they play a better game. Credit to the AHP defense, they played like beasts and shutdown the passing game.

BTW vs North Marion. Both came out slow and it was easy to see it was a preseason game. NM has a little more mustard that I thought they would have, while BTW has a little less. I expect both will improve and BTW should be fine when the playoffs roll around. The BTW vs STA game should still be a great game.

Winter Haven vs Columbus. Maybe we need to take a closer look at Winter Haven. I understand it is preseason and that Columbus made their share of mistakes but give Winter Haven it's due for being on top when the clock ticked 0. I didn't see it coming.

Coconut Creek in a squeaker. I expected more for Coconut Creek. Maybe they are a little higher ranked than they should be unless Deerfield Beach is better than they are getting credit for. And for the love of God guys... Don't bring your heaters to the game. If it's that bad stay home...

Cocoa vs Titusville. Much better game than the score shows. Cocoa did what they were expected to do. They came out slow but got it together in the 2nd half. You could see the rust falling off as the game progressed. Titusville, I was impress with Titusville. Their QB looked fantastic and He should get offers before seasons end. Very accurate with lots of zip, even on the deep ball. The receivers were exceptional. All hands. They were much better that what I was seeing from the IMG guys. Yes, I said it. The Titusville receivers looked better than the IMG receivers. Maybe 4 dropped passes all night, 2 were knocked out by the defense, and the other 2 came of the pads. One completion was on a slant in traffic and the receiver reached behind him and made a one hand catch, pulled it in just before getting smashed between 2 defenders. If Titusville can stay healthy, I see them going a long way into the playoffs.

Give us your take on your games this weekend. We want to know why your team will have a decent season.

I was in attendance at the BTW vs NM game... Both teams are hella good.. NM should be a problem in North 5a this year.. Only problem I had with them was their HUGE oline was kinda soft but their legit!

As far as BTW, very young and has a lot of talent!! The defense gave up 14 points but they do really have that much depth in that side.. As for the O the starting qb made that game harder then what it was.. I know it was the first game but that kid started last year for pace and he was making a lot of mistakes... But that freshmen qb is going to be the real deal!!! They have fast wr but too many drop passes and they have a solid oline... RB is decent but he's no Mark Walton...Cocoa if yall want to catch BTW this is the year! one thing I was impress with was when BTW was down by 9 points in the 4 with like 5 mins nobody was down or sad.. It's like they knew they were going to come back and win that game...

That's a good sign that they knew they were still in it with 5 mins left. When you have the tradition BTW has, you can bet the athletes will play to the last tick. I certain they have the talent even if it is young. Sounds like your QB down there is going to be a good one to watch in the coming years.

    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
    • Are you still talking to me??  Thought I was pretty clear for you not to waste your breath on this subject matter, but somehow you are missing the point.  Teacher unions have limited power in FL because the candidates they overwhelming support keep losing.  If they had won, the teacher union vote had a lot to do with it and would be wielding that power.  Osceola county which isn't a GOP stronghold during the past two national elections had the journalism students for the OHS monthly newsletter (Kowboy Jake) interview the faculty as to their political leanings.  A sample of about 30 teachers that were interviewed were voting as follows:  25 D vs 5 R.  Enough said.
    • You missed the point of my union post. Teacher unions in strong union states have power. Florida unions have zero. They cant strike and the school board can implement a contract without the unions approval. Florida unions are not preventing any raise in Florida. The state has attacked a straw man here.
