Lake Gibson Head Coach Resigns Suddenly

Defensive coordinator Kyle Worden will be the interim head coach while Lake Gibson conducts its search.  Hopefully this doesn't tip the scales of balance in the city and hopefully the LG kids stay in place.  However, going into the summer without an HBC is not a good situation for LG to be in.

The Lake Gibson head coach that recently resigned from that position is now the head coach at Flagler Palm Coast High School.

Keith Barefield Jr will be the new LG head coach, the program announced this morning.

Appears to be an assistant on staff and formerly on staff at Southeastern University when his father was the HC.

Former defensive analyst at Louisiana Lafayette and OC at Quincy (D2)

Given the timing of the former HBC's departure, I think LG did the right thing in the circumstances they were faced with.

Both of Gibson's coordinators were going to be new this year, as neither was on the staff last year. Now, they also add in a new head coach. So, heavy turnover for them. Which is odd given the talent they have coming back. It does seem they have a strong team mentality, so this may well make them stronger as a team. But, with so many new faces in key places on the staff, those coaches are going to have to be good.  We're pretty sure Worden is, so we'll see about the new HC and OC.
