Above are the 8A rankings for the state, Flanagan drops down to #6 after losing to South Plantation who was not previously ranked in their county, yet alone state.  So my question is, If Miramar beats South Plantation this week does Miramar move back into the State top 10 ranking or at least Plantation with a win this week against Cypress Bay?

Not likely.   The rankings that you are viewing appear to have a power rating number associated them (example: Apopka =188). If that is the case a team would normally move up or down relevant to the several factors which could include strength of opposition , margin of victory, Home/Away points allowed etc...  To answer your question more specifically about Miramar, my guess would be most likely - no.   They would need a lot of good teams rated ahead of them to lose or get blown out.  A 45-0 victory or something over South Plantation could help.  A huge win for Plantation over Cypress Bay would help their chances...   But if Deerfield Beach handles Bolles  they will likely be first in since Bolles is a stronger opponent than South Plantation or Cypress Bay (I would think).

Again, I am not the one making these ratings and this is just my guesstimated thoughts.  You might want to contact the individual who made the rankings for a more definitive answer....

Yes, I think Deerfield Beach would and should get in before both of them.  I also like Deerfield to come out of Broward County over Flanagan as well.

Deerfield vs Columbus to go to State

If the playoffs were this weekend, I would have to agree.  If Flanagan has to go to Deerfield Beach to play in November, I can definitely see Deerfield pulling that off.  Perhaps the biggest, most corrupt,  big game Home Field advantage in Florida.  They must practice on that field because it is like playing in either mud or a sand box.  If you are not ready for it you are screwed.  Blaring music, refs from the neighborhood and you have a very advantageous place to play.  I can see them beating Flanagan, Plantation, Miramar there for sure.

Here's what I have

1. Columbus

2. South Dade

3. Coral Gables

4. Deerfield Beach

5. Plantation

6. Flanagan

7. Atlantic

I assume these are South Florida ratings rather than Statewide 8A?  Look's pretty good if it is only South Florida.   I would not sleep on this Atlantic - Delray team....

Columbus will face more talented teams but they will out-coach almost all of them every time.  When a team continues to win close games you got to think it is not luck anymore...Great coaching!

I agree about Columbus, their coaching is top notch. They aren't blowing out teams like traditional powerhouses, but their defense is suffocating and their offense does enough to get the win.

South Dade looks great this year. Out of Miami-Dade I think it'll come down to Columbus or South Dade. The Columbus-Coral Gables game will tell us a lot about both teams.

    • I was actually itching to treat some wager some money on some sports matches that are happening above-board now. I wanted to let you guys identify that I did spot what I ruminate on to be the kindest site in the USA. If you fall short of to get in on the spirit, check it out-moded: https://pokeronline.guru/online-gambling/
    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
