South Florida

I did not think Dillard's season would implode this bad.  I did not see them beating Carol City but to go down like this .......Mighty_Dillard_Panthers - I know you are listening - Sorry, it had to end like this.

BTW, Coral Gables, Miami Columbus, Delray Atlantic, AHP, STA, Flanagan, Hallandale, Miami Central put defensive beatings to their opponents.

Most competitive games appeared to be:

Ely 14 @ Dwyer 16

Plantation 14 @ Deerfield Beach 17

Boca Raton 27 @ Palm Beach Gardens 26  in OT!

Chaminade Madonna 24 @ Oxbridge Academy 32

Dixie County16 @ Pahokee 13 in OT!

Nova 34 @ Mater Academy 35  in OT!

I knew Carol City was gonna beat Dillard by 2 scores but not like that.. They dominated! I hope Carol City beats Central next week cause Central qb is the only reason why they won't win states... Let Carol City go they seem like the more complete team!

I was not surprised by either of these games. Ely is the best team in the state with a terrible win/loss record. They could/would beat many 8-2, 7-3 teams. Their schedule was very tough and they lost several close games. Regarding Deerfield Beach, they have a history of playing St. Thomas very close and have beaten them several times over the years (Miramar is another team that gives St. Thomas fits). Therefore, I did not take as much from that win as I would if they had beaten, say, Miami Central or Flanagan. And, while I know Wing T, Triple Option, Single Wing type football gives several South Florida teams trouble as not many teams run that type of offense down there, I just felt Bolles was not very good this year. I expect Flanagan to handle DB comfortably.

You did call that DarterBlue2.   I expected DB to beat Plantation by a little more but the box score tells us they were lucky to escape.  Plantation played in a much harder District than Deerfield this year and they were obviously well prepared for a competitive game but just came up a tad short.

I had the same thoughts on the Ely/Dwyer matchup .  Ely is better than their record and Dwyer is a bit of a paper tiger.  Dwyer could really struggle to score vs. STA.

we had what would have been a mild scare, at least in first 3 quarters, went into 4th down 14-7 but offense got real red hot in the 4th and defense stood its ground, columbia ended up winning 42-27 in a wild 4th quarter which honeslty, was more exciting then first 3 quarters combined, lol
