I think they could have ran nothing, but dives with 3rd string players and scored 60. I seen some highlights.  ELY looked tiny. Dline looked JV small. That principal has to retire. No coaches want to deal with him and the players all scatter after every change.

Which is sad. Tbh

Does the Principal not care about athletics? Does he have an ego problem? Does he not give support to the Coaches at the school?

From what I hear it’s ego and wanting to be too involved.  Telling coaches who they have to start and play even if a kid is being disciplined for something.  I’ve heard kids have been suspended and he walked them right on the field in uniform game day and told coaches they have to put them in. Also, firing coaches if they start to get too popular in the school and community. Not wanting to give head coaches on campus jobs for the same reason. It is his program and his school. He has to be the man and have the power type stuff.  This is just what I hear from the couple alumni and former coaches there I know.  They all are waiting for him to retire.

That is sad. A principal should leave the coaching to the coaches. Ely used to be a very solid program. No reason it should be a bottom feeder.

I wonder why young players want to transfer and not always "play for the school that they are zoned for by a taxpayer-supported pencil-pushing bureaucrat." Wait a second, I believe that I just answered my own question.

There are so many good reasons to transfer to a traditional powerhouse that I can't blame any kid for doing so.  You will likely get much better coaching and facilities.  The strength and conditioning programs at these programs, especially private schools, could be the difference between you becoming a great player and earning a scholarship and not earning one.  The coaches will have direct access to many, if not most, college football programs and can get your name out there.  It's also about winning.  It's hard to enjoy a 1-9 or 2-8 season so I can't blame a kid for wanting to experience a deep run in the playoffs their last year of high school.

Having said all that, I would still encourage kids to play for their local school.  If youre good enough, scouts will always find you.  Keep an eye on Palm Harbor U. high school the next three years.   A tight group of kids that all played youth ball together and had a lot of success have now moved on to PHU instead of losing them to the private schools like we usually do.  If PHU can hang on to these kids the next 3-4 years, they are going on a run.  I like it when a non-traditional power can keep the kids in its zone and get to experience winning.

    • It would weed out the bad teams that are not championship material. The cream would rise to the top. So once the the teams ranked in the 400’s and 500’s were gone after the first round like they should be, it would start to get to the point only good teams are left. The last couple rounds would be the best of the best. One true state champion.    Watering down the classes and letting teams who normally would have no business winning a title advance further than they should is like letting a toddler hold a fake steering wheel and pretend he’s driving. It’s not real. And it doesn’t prepare the kids for real life. It makes them think they are better than they really are.
    • Buy Azithromycin Online is a handy antibiotic you can buy online to treat specific bacterial infections. It’s great for things like respiratory infections (think coughs and sore throats), skin infections, ear infections, and even some sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia. One cool thing about it is that you usually only need to take it for a short time, usually around five days. Just remember, it’s super important to take the full course even if you start feeling better before it’s done. This helps make sure the infection is completely gone and doesn’t come back stronger. Like with any medication, there can be side effects, like upset stomach or diarrhea, so it’s always good to talk to your doctor or pharmacist first, especially if you have any health conditions or are taking other meds. Overall, Azithromycin can be an effective and convenient option for treating bacterial infections when used correctly.
    • Okay, how about that STA vs. Ida Baker matchup in your first round?  Does your analogy extend to South Florida slappies?  My opinion is simply that no one (except CoachGraham, apparently) would be interested in the 1 vs. 512, 2 vs. 511, and 200 other mismatches such a format would produce, regardless of geography.  But I could be wrong.  And now I'm thinking I should have skipped college.
