Auburndale unbeaten. 4-0. Nice win last week vs Bartow. Yes the other 3 teams they’ve beaten are somewhat pedestrian.......I like to celebrate teams with good seasons out of the top 30!!!!

First 4-0 start for A-dale since 2014.  With the Bloodhounds taking on Gateway for homecoming, the Hounds have a great shot to go 5-0 for the first time since before I started keeping records almost 25 years ago.

Gateway has struggled the past few years more than usual with the opening of our newest HS, Toho which took a chunk of their available players.  They will present no issue for Auburndale, so they will definitely go 5-0 with a good chance of even 6-0 with their next opponent Winter Haven who is having a bit of a down year themselves.  Big resistance is the following week against Lake Gibson and they will be fired up for that game.

Plus I am a bit biased as they bleed Blue& Gold like us.

After going back and actually looking at all the seasons, 2014 was not the last time Auburndale started 4-0.  It was actually 2019.  My eyes must have been tired.  Anyway, their 3 losses were to Winter Haven and twice to Lake Gibson.

Forecast for the Gateway game was spot on as it was a laugher, but last night Bloodhounds squeezed by Winter Haven for a 6-0 start.  Things will get a lot more interesting/difficult for the next three weeks, so anxious to see how they navigate that part of their schedule.

Yes.  It appeared that Winter Haven had control for most of the game.  However, Auburndale was able to pull out the win and that's all that matters.

Winter Haven's 0-6 record can be a bit deceiving with their overall schedule which include the likes of Lakeland,  Lake Gibson, Edgewater, Sebring among others.  If they don't get discouraged that should help them get better week to week, so see how that plays out for them the rest of the way.

Of course a lot depends on how they rally around the interim coach. Between that schedule and having the coach resign in the middle of the season, it's been a rough Fall for WH.

Looks a little like a 1950's mentality in a 2020's school setting.

Honestly, in watching that video, I couldn't really tell if the coach's hands went up around the kid's neck.  If they did, that's a big no-no.   If the coach had kept his hands down on the kid's body, perhaps he would have a good argument that he was simply trying to deescalate the situation by moving the two kids apart from one another.  Yeah, I know the current rules probably say "no physical contact/touching at all unless you are defending yourself," but I guarantee you that everyone on this board understands that coaches make some physical contact with kids on a daily basis (drills, hugs, separating kids about to go at one another, etc.).   It's all about the context.   Looks like his past history is coming back to haunt him a little, as well.

This makes me wonder:  what did people get away with before everyone had a phone with a camera?  (Yes, I know this could open up a can of worms for a much bigger conversation, but I'd prefer not to go down that road right now).

LG vs A-dale should be a great game.

Bloodhounds are at home, not favored but I think it will be a very competitive game.  Playing for a perfect season so lots of motivation with not many if any on this forum have picked them.  Pulling for them to get the win.

So is almost everyone, no surprises there as this is definitely Auburndale's toughest test.

Mosely faced that “Undefeated” season pressure last week & lost to a tough seasoned Gadsden County team. Keeping an undefeated season adds to “simply winning”, plus gives Xtra incentive to the opposing team! Keystone Heights is in the same position, playing an improved PK Yonge squad. Indians schedule is almost embarrassing. Good luck to the Bloodhounds!

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
