It will be a month since PK played back to back games.. Coming off of a bye and a emotional/historical Muck Bowl win really showed tonight but it will give them the wake up call they need for HHS. My first visit to the stadium in 6 years; I do not remember it looking that good! Go Blue Devils!!!!!

This game played out like the Palm Beach Gardens loss (off a bye week). Defense couldn’t finish plays (sacks and busts in coverage) and a QB mobile enough to extend plays. I think the shooting threat (a lot of kids went home and were afraid) had an effect also and maybe not RESPECTING your opponent.

Jesse, the best MadCo can hope for if they beat Blountstown is a No. 2 seed in the State semifinals (i.e., the final four).

In Region I, Baker had a better RPI than MadCo when the regular season ended, which is all that matters.  Chipley did not.

In Region III, both Chiefland and Union Co. have better RPI's than MadCo.

In Region IV, Hawthorne has a better RPI than MadCo, but MadCo has a slightly better one than Pahokee.

So even if the four road teams (Chipley, MadCo, Union Co. and Pahokee) win all four regional titles next week, the winner of the Chiefland/Union County game would have the best RPI and thus would end up the No. 1 seed in the final four.  The best MadCo could hope for would be a No. 2 seed, in which case they would host the semifinal game (against Pahokee) before playing the Championship game in Tallahassee.

If the current seeding holds true is Regions I, III, and IV,  Baker County will beat Chipley, Chiefland will beat Union Co. and Hawthorne will beat Pahokee.   If that were to happen, and if MadCo beats Blountstown, MadCo would be the No. 4 seed and would travel to Hawthorne for the semifinals.

At least that's how I understand it.

Now if say pahokee win that would make chiefland or union number one seed baker number 2 madco 3 pahokee 4  1 would play 4 2would play 3?

you both wrong the only way mc county play pahokee or hawthorne is in the championship game region change this year

If I'm wrong, I'll admit it.  I was basing my analysis on the FHSAA Football Handbook:

4.7.2.3.2 State Semifinals
(a) Dates and Times. See the football webpage at FHSAA.com.
(b) Bracketing. Teams will be seeded based on the RPI Ranking at the conclusion of the regular season. The one (1) seed will play the four (4) seed and the two (2) seed will play the three (3) seed.

What are you basing your opinion on?

look at your 1a playoff bracket mc county is not in the same  region as pahokee and hawthorne that change this year

I understand what you are saying.   Several of us noticed the same thing at the start of the playoffs.   But we then remembered that the FHSAA was (supposedly) using seeding when they got to the state semifinals instead of the old-fashioned 1 vs. 2 and 3 vs. 4.  In short, the brackets are in conflict with the handbook.   I'll find out which one controls and report back.

Now this is the understanding that I have.

RPI Rankings of final 8 1A and rpi matchups.

1. Blountstown
2. Hawthorne
3. Chiefland
4. Union
5. Baker
6. Madison
7. Pahokee
8. Chipley

Regional Final matchups

1 vs 6
2 vs 7
3 vs 4
5 vs 8

Chiefland and Union game doesn't shift anyone up or down because they are 3/4 in rpi.

If higher rpi team wins every game
Blountstown host Baker
Hawthorne host Chiefland/Union

If Madison wins and all other higher rpi win.
Hawthorne host Madison
Chiefland/Union host Baker

If Madison and Pahokee win and other higher rpi win
Chiefland/Union host Pahokee
Baker host Madison

If Chipley and Madison win and other higher rpi
Hawthorne host Chipley
Chiefland/Union host Madison

Only way Madison can host is if Pahokee and Chipley win. Chipley and Pahokee has no way to host.

Come on Chipley win , so madco can play union or hey baker win so madco put 60 on them.

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
