Now this is the understanding that I have.

RPI Rankings of final 8 1A and rpi matchups.

1. Blountstown
2. Hawthorne
3. Chiefland
4. Union
5. Baker
6. Madison
7. Pahokee
8. Chipley

Regional Final matchups

1 vs 6
2 vs 7
3 vs 4
5 vs 8

Chiefland and Union game doesn't shift anyone up or down because they are 3/4 in rpi.

If higher rpi team wins every game
Blountstown host Baker
Hawthorne host Chiefland/Union

If Madison wins and all other higher rpi win.
Hawthorne host Madison
Chiefland/Union host Baker

If Madison and Pahokee win and other higher rpi win
Chiefland/Union host Pahokee
Baker host Madison

If Chipley and Madison win and other higher rpi
Hawthorne host Chipley
Chiefland/Union host Madison

Only way Madison can host is if Pahokee and Chipley win. Chipley and Pahokee has no way to host.

Thanks

So. Pahokee played 6 teams that made the playoffs last year and 4 teams that made the playoffs this year (would’ve been 6 but Lehigh and Treasure Coast games got canceled) and they have the lowest RPI??? Some teams ahead of them only played 1 team with a winning record or 0 teams that made the playoffs…this makes no sense!

It is simple guys! The winner of G25 Bracket (1 seed) will play the winner of G26 (4 seed) and the the winner of G27 (2 seed) will play the winner of G28 (3 seed). The bracket seeds was set at the beginning of the playoffs. Therefore, Quadrant 1 was given the #1 seeded region (Chipley vs Baker) and Quadrant 2 was given the 4th seeded region (Mad. Co vs weed town). Quadrant 3 is the 2nd seeded region (UC vs Chiefland) and Quadrant 4 is the 3rd seeded region (Pahokee vs Hawthrone).

I understand what you are saying.   Several of us noticed the same thing at the start of the playoffs.   But we then remembered that the FHSAA was (supposedly) using seeding when they got to the state semifinals instead of the old-fashioned 1 vs. 2 and 3 vs. 4.  In short, the brackets are in conflict with the handbook.   I'll find out which one controls and report back.

For what it's worth, I reached out to the FHSAA and asked which controls for the semifinal games -- the online brackets or the reseeding based on RPI.   I got back a response that made no mention of the brackets.  Instead, it simply confirmed as follows:

4.7.2.3.2 State Semifinals (a) Dates and Times. See the football webpage at FHSAA.com.

(b) Bracketing. Teams will be seeded based on the RPI Ranking at the conclusion of the regular season.

The one (1) seed will play the four (4) seed and the two (2) seed will play the three (3) seed.

(c) Host Schools. Teams with the highest regular season RPI Ranking will be designated “home” team

I'm not saying I'm 100% right on this one, but I'm sure not going to say I'm wrong.  B)

All classes are reseeding after the regional finals... stop looking at the brackets... they mean nothing after regional finals.

You are looking at a maxpreps bracket.  Not a FHSAA bracket.

I got cashapp if anybody want to put a lil wager on how this works.

The MaxPreps brackets ARE the official FHSAA brackets as well...

So yeah please send my payment...

You are wrong.... things will be reseeded after this week. Will give you all scenarios later today.

    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy

    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
