Stadiums Facilities

I really can only go by the ones I have visited and from that field I would say West Orange, you could see they put alot of money into that facility, new turf field, cameras and sideline televisions for the players and coaches to review plays. I would not put it up there with IMG, but it is the nicest I have personally seen.

I am quite partial, but there is nothing like Bryant Stadium (Lakeland) that I have seen around Florida. Not the most advanced stadium, but they have made many upgrades (turf, jumbotron) over the past 10 years while still keeping the historic feel to it. The stadium hits 75 years this upcoming season.

The big question is.......what does the city plan to do with it. They have started selling off many of their properties, including 90 year old Henley Field (Baseball stadium right next door to Bryant Stadium). So, many long-time Dreadnaught fans are a little nervous about what the future holds.

well if the stadium is kept in good maintance then i dont see any reason they would get rid of it, we have a historic stadium here as well, (memorial stadium) been around i think since 30s or 40s, it was the stadium pat summerall played at so its still standing and we used it up to the 94' season, then we moved to a on site campus (Tiger Stadium) and have played there ever since so since 95' bout to play season number 21 in tiger stadium this year so should be fun

Unfortunately, it's all about the $$$. The city doesn't want to put any money into the stadium (most upgrades have been paid for by neighboring Lakeland Hospital or the LHS Booster Club). If the city looks to sell, the price will likely be in the range that the school board cannot afford. Although, then they would have to build a new stadium for Lakeland anyway. The on-campus stadium is really just a practice field with limited stands and parking.

I've always thought Aquinas should increase seating to around 6,000. Just me though. There is a program in North Carolina called Cherokee and they have some amazing facilities! Nothing like Allen or these big schools, but man they are nice. They are a 1A school in the mountains of NC.

STA - I've gone through parts of that gallery. Some nice places in NC.

Asheville and Reynolds are pretty nice, IMO.

I'd imagine Mallard and Charlotte Catholic have nice places.

I'm actually very heavily involved with Charlotte Catholic. We've upgraded the stadium since those pictures were taken. Much better now!

  • 4 weeks later...

Lakeland is the by far the best environment and facility I have ever been to in Florida. From the fire engine escort, the bell, the cannons, the checkerboard end zones, the fans standing in the end zone bleachers heckling the visiting team as they warm up, packed loud crowds and those orange and black jerseys its hard not to get pumped up for a game there. Small town football at its best.

Columbia is one of the best small town stadiums I have been to in North Florida. The band playing Eye of the Tiger, the fans are loud and usually huge, the 25 second clock is unique too. The dual press boxes are a blessing for all media. Although I did have one bad encounter there I wont hold it against them forever.

St. Augustine is the typical small town atmosphere, I love going to Foots Brumley Stadium. The crowd is always packed and always into the cheerleaders and band and dance team which always do an outstanding job keeping the crowd in the game. The Yellow Jacket mascot always keeps my daughter entertained lol which is helpful to me..

Clay and Palatka are very similar to St. Augustine also with the community getting into the games and for the most part support. Although lately Palatka isn't what it once was in the 90s.

We also got a new scoreboard this year and added banners to both the scoreboard and the fieldhouse, we have also added a horn and flags next to endzone as well as a new field design, the technology is also gotten amazing, endzone cameras and robotics team also made a t shirt cannon and a drone so we just keep upgrading it

    • Complaining about North Florida slappies losing to South Florida powers is like someone graduating high school complaining that companies are only hiring college graduates and not them. And then a company saying ok to make it fair, we will open division and only hire high school graduates.
    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
