DISTRICT OUTLOOK

Who’s In:

dadechristianhelmet1. Dade Christian – The Crusaders lose a lot of the talent that made up the team from last’s seasons state runner-up team in Class 2A, but there are a handful of starters returning that should keep things going. However, with district rival now primed with several Division I prospects, the goal to make another trip to Orlando will become a lot harder this season.

Fighting It Out:

2. Champagnat – The talent has come to the Lions in big ways this offseason as several Miami Edison players transferred into the school, thus giving Champagnat several Division I prospects across the board. Franklin Labady is going to be called upon quite a bit and his speed should help push Champagnat over the top this year and get them into the playoffs once again, plus help increase the win total as well.

highlandschristian23. Highlands Christian – The Knights showed improvement last year and finished 5-5 overall, but where in a tough district that was taken by Glades Day and Village Academy. Now with Highlands in District 8, things look a lot better for them to challenge for a playoff spot. The talent is there, but as always with most small schools, depth will be an issue they will have to overcome.

Got Work To Do:

coralspringschristianhelmet4. Coral Springs Christian Crusaders – Donnell Bennett took over the program after spring football replacing former head coach Monte Gonzalez. The roster numbers are low meaning depth is going to be a big issue to overcome. However, with being in a new district things should be a bit different and once Bennett puts his stamp on the team, Coral Springs Christian could be in the playoff hunt.

barringtonchristianhelmet5. Barrington Christian – The Falcons welcome in new head coach Tee Wooten and he will have his work cut out for him as he tries to not only improve the over win total, but compete in a tough district. There are a dozen starters back between both sides of the ball and while there are a few standout playmakers, that should help contribute to an improvement this year.
