GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After months of deciding where to place the FHSAA Flag Football State Championships, a decision has been made with the games slated to commence one month from today.

The FHSAA announced Wednesday afternoon that Citizens Field in Gainesville will host the Flag Football State Championships on May 19-20, according to a press release sent out by the association.

Citizens Field will be the fourth different venue the Flag Football State Championships will have been played at over the last five years with Robinson High School serving as the most recent host.

This will be the second FHSAA event to be hosted in Gainesville this school year after Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center hosted the 2017 FHSAA Competitive Cheerleading State Championships back in January with the Gainesville Sports Commission serving as the host organization.

The contract agreement between the FHSAA and the Gainesville Sports Commission is a one-year agreement with an option to extend the partnership an additional two years.

All six games which include four state semifinal games and two state championship games in Classes 1A and 2A will begin at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Friday, May 19. All games will be streamed live on the NFHS Network.

Tickets for the 2017 FHSAA Flag Football State Championships will be $8 per session. Friday’s semifinal games will count as one session, while Saturday’s state championship games will count as the second session. Parking will be provided at no charge.
