Dr. Phillips Panthers (1-0) at Apopka Blue Darters (1-0)

When: Friday

Where: Roger Williams Field, Apopka

Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET

Coaches: Rodney Wells, Dr. Phillips; Jeff Rolson, Apopka

Last Five Meetings
2019: Apopka 21, Dr. Phillips 13
2018: Apopka 38, Dr. Phillips 7
2017: Apopka 21, Dr. Phillips 14
2016: Apopka 15, Dr. Phillips 14
2015: Apopka 22, Dr. Phillips 20

Skinny: This matchup is one of the most highly anticipated games on the schedule each season and thankfully even a pandemic cannot stop this game from taking place. By looking at the scores from the last five years, every game has been tight battle outside of the 2018 matchup between the visiting Panthers and the host Blue Darters. Last week Dr. Phillips escaped with a 48-41 win over a Boone, a game that at one point verged on the edge of defeat after having a significant lead. For Apopka, at one point was down last week to Ocoee with the game verging into upset territory before rallying back down 13-0 to win 15-13. That win was propelled by quarterback Jaquan Lowman (2021) who scored two total touchdowns for the win.  Lowman has been one of the key players for the Blue Darters over the last year during their run to the Class 8A State Championship game.

Joe Pinkos’ Forecast: Apopka by 9
