Class 3S Week 3 recap report: Lake Wales, Mainland escape with close victories

Lake Wales escaped with a very close win over a very tough Sebring team while Mainland had to come back from behind against Bartram Trail.

Here is our Class 3S recap report from Week 3:

1. Lake Wales (3-0)

How They Fared: In a very tight game against Sebring, the Highlanders came out a 7-0 victory to remain undefeated on the season. RB RaShad Orr had 124 yards rushing for the Highlanders, while ATH Johnqaue Richardson recorded 17 tackles and 3 tackles for loss in the victory.

2. Mainland (Daytona Beach) (3-0)

How They Fared: The Buccaneers recorded their third win of the season to remain undefeated after coming from behind late in the fourth quarter to defeat 4S Bartram Trail (St. Johns).

3. St. Augustine (2-0)

How They Fared: Capturing a win over Brunswick, Ga., up in the Border War games in Brunswick, the Yellow Jackets remain undefeated on the season. Locklan Hewlett went 15-of-28 passing for 366 yards and 2 touchdowns, while RB Devonte Lyons had 129 yards rushing on 18 carries and a touchdown. WR Carl Jenkins Jr. accounted for 232 of the 366 receiving yards with 2 touchdowns, while CB Marquice King had 10 tackles and 2 interceptions in the game.

4. Vanguard (Ocala) (3-0)

How They Fared: The Knights continue to remain undefeated on the season after pulling out a close 28-21 victory over 2S Dunnellon.

5. Naples (3-0)

How They Fared: The Golden Eagles continue their winning ways after picking up a 33-17 victory over 4S Immokalee on the road. The team combined for 255 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the victory. Defensively, Naples recorded 7 sacks against Immokalee.

6. Dunbar (Fort Myers) (2-1)

How They Fared: The Tigers got steamrolled by 2S Bishop Verot (Fort Myers) 49-14. Austin Price had 190 yards passing a touchdown in the game.

7. Pine Forest (Pensacola) (3-0)

How They Fared: The Eagles rolled over 2S Pensacola with a 53-0 shutout victory to remain undefeated on the season.

8. Choctawhatchee (Fort Walton Beach) (2-1)

How They Fared: Cole Tabb rushed for a school-record 365 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-27 road victory at 4S Crestview as the Indians picked up their second win of the season.

9. Sebring (2-1)

How They Fared: In a very tight battle against top-ranked Sebring, the Blue Streaks came out on the short end of things with a 7-0 loss.

10. Eau Gallie (Melbourne) (3-0)

How They Fared: The Commodores shut out Winter Haven 35-0 to remain undefeated on the year. DE Brandon Brown racked up 4 sacks in the game, along with 6 tackles and five tackles for loss.
