WHO: South Fork at Seminole Ridge
WHEN: Friday, May 24
WHERE: Callery-Judge Stadium, Loxahatchee
WHY: Visiting South Fork has been one of the top teams within the Treasure Coast & Palm Beaches area for the last few seasons including a season where they went 9-1, but failed to achieve the district title. Going to play Seminole Ridge this spring will give them a test to see what is working and what needs to be corrected. The question that remains will the Bulldogs be able to keep themselves as top dog in their district that now expands more towards the north with new foes coming in like Heritage and Bayside? This contest will give us some indicators that could tell us how the season might play out in the fall.
For host Seminole Ridge, things have been on a bit of whirlwind in the last five months in terms of the head coaching situation. First, Matt Dickmann resigned to take a head coaching position in Georgia and soon thereafter named Steven Humphrey its next head coach after a search. However, Humphrey had to resign to move to Atlanta due to a family issue, resulting in former Hollywood Hills head coach Scott Barnwell to be promoted up as the next head coach. With that situation now out of the way, Seminole Ridge will try to keep things on track and see if they can once again put together things that have made them become a team to watch over the last few years. The Hawks who have been to the regional finals twice in the last three years have talent available to keep the streak going under Barnwell. However, South Fork will provide a true test to see what needs correcting before the regular season rolls around.
