According to the report, Gray and the school, located on Jacksonville’s Southside, agreed to mutually part ways. However, Duval Charter principal Kimberly Stidham told Barney that Gray had declined the offer that was made to him. He was previously hired back on March 25 of this year, according to Barney.
Gray is most notably recognized for his time spent as a quarterback with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars during the early to mid 2000’s.
As of recent though Gray previously served as an assistant coach the last four years at Florida A&M University in Tallahasee. Prior to that he previously coached at Andrew Jackson High in Jacksonville in 2010. He replaced Kevin Sullivan that year who went to launch the program at Atlantic Coast. Gray went 5-6 in his only season, reaching the playoffs in Class 3A. Proposed cuts to sports in Duval County in 2011 forced Gray to seek a coaching job outside of the area due to the uncertainty.
With spring football two weeks away, the school is already in the process of searching for a new head coach.
