GAINESVILLE – The FHSAA released the final reclassification for Girls Flag Football for the 2015-2016 school until the 2018-2019 school years. This means the new districts will be in effect for the next four years.
However, the biggest change for Girls Flag Football comes the long-awaited split of the sport into two classifications, something that was highly expected with the addition of Miami-Dade County public schools adding in Flag Football starting next school year.
Instead of having all the teams vying for one state championship across 32 districts, schools are now divided up into a Class 1A and Class 2A with the biggest schools in Class 2A. Both classifications will have a total of 16 districts each.
