District projections for Class 7A – Region IV for the 2015 season.
District 7A-13
1. Dwyer
2. Royal Palm Beach
3. West Boca Raton
4. Forest HIll
5. Palm Beach Lakes
6. Olympic Heights
Comment: Dwyer will certainly be the leader of this district as the district shrinks from eight teams to six teams this season. Royal Palm Beach will contend with Dwyer for the district championship, but has struggled to keep games close each season. West Boca Raton will look once again to pull upsets like it did last season, while Forest Hill is a rising contender and could surprise many this season. Palm Beach Lakes and Olympic Heights have new coaches and will have a lot of work to do move their programs into the top tier of the district.
District 7A-14
1. St. Thomas Aquinas
2. Blanche Ely
3. Fort Lauderdale
Comment: St. Thomas Aquinas is locked and loaded with talent and will certainly dominate this district. Blanche Ely and Fort Lauderdale will battle for the runner-up spot, but Blanche Ely is more experienced in consistently reaching the playoffs each year.
District 7A-15
1. Hollywood Hills
2. Nova
3. Cooper City
4. South Broward
5. McArthur
6. West Broward
Comment: Things are very much wide open in this district where not a single team amongst the group reached the playoffs last season. However, Hollywood Hills has been a growing team and could likely win the district. Nova is rebounding and this might be the Titans chance to reach the playoffs since the 1990’s. Cooper City and South Broward could be contenders for the runner-up spot, while McArthur and West Broward will need to find their footing before thinking playoffs.
District 7A-16
1. Mater Academy
2. Miami Springs
3. South Miami
4. Reagan
5. Doral
6. Miami Sunset
7. Goleman
8. Mourning
9. Westland Hialeah
Comment: The only 9-team district in the state and only one team out of the group reached the playoff last season which is Mater Academy. With a new head coach with in Rocco Casullo taking over after leaving St. Thomas Aquinas just a month after winning a state championship, Mater will be in great hands to continue the success that Javi Valdes started. Miami Springs which just missed out on the playoffs last year should be in great position to get in this year. South Miami and Reagan could be challengers for the runner-up spot, while the rest of the district will have to find what makes there team tick and build around that. With this district, losing just one game could be costly, with two putting the whole entire season on the line very early.
