Elijah Freeman, who was announced as the next head coach at Bayshore High in Bradenton earlier today, was an all-state player in the 1990’s and played college football at Tulane, the Bradenton Herald reports.
An assistant for eight years at nearby rival Palmetto, Freeman became the second coach from the ranks under Dave Marino to get a head coaching job this off-season. Freeman coached defensive backs and special teams for the Tigers.
Freeman, was selected among the 3 finalists picked for an interview for the Bruins job that survived the first round of interviews. Nearly 100 applicants applied for the job overall, the report indicated.
