Skinny: The last time you have to go back to when these two teams matched up in any game between the regular season and playoffs you have to go way back to 2004, a time that none of the current athletes on the rosters for both program probably remember. And that last meeting the coaches for those teams were the late Corky Rogers for Bolles and Joey Wiles for St. Augustine. But now with Toblin in charge at Bolles and Braddock leading his alma mater, neither team has skipped a beat in staying in the conversation among top tier teams in the state. The visiting Bulldogs last week blew by Jacksonville Trinity Christian in a 36-12 road win that got the season rolling. Two key players that really made the noise for Bolles include running back Kade Frew (2021) who had 22 carries for 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns while defensive lineman David Adewale (2021) had a game-high three sacks that created nightmares for the opposing backfield. For the host Yellow Jackets, they walloped Middleburg 49-0 on the road and will be facing a tough challenge in the Bulldogs who came up short in the Class 4A State Championship game last year against Miami Booker T. Washington. St. Augustine had over 460 yards of total offense, but with the way the Bulldogs defense played last week, that could be hard to match the same output on Friday night. Key players to watch include quarterback Sammy Edwards (2021), receiver Trevon Dirden (2021), and running backs Aaron Wynn (2022) and Sean Harvey (2023), all who had touchdowns last week through the air or on the ground.
